Bloody hell. Just got notification from OS. Doesn't say what it is, just that he's had surgery.

No timeframe on a return but not as serious as the previous knee injury.

Hugely disappointing though.

Bad news but I think we're a better team with Delph at LB. Hopefully it allows Sane to play more too.

If it was a serious injury and surgery is done I’d expect we’d have been told the nature of the injury and approximate length of time on the sidelines. So I’m hopeful it’s only a minor procedure.

Nothing obvious like his ACL last season even though we went through a week or two of cover ups or denials or misdiagnosis if memory serves.

Interesting they've not said the problem despite them clearly knowing it, that to me indicates it's probably a substantial one. I fear for his future if it's bad, certain players just never fully recover from an acl injury and given his style and athleticism he could be in trouble. Reminds me of Richards in running style, let's hope he doesn't have his similar injury record.

Team will be fine so long as Delph remains fit but we do lose an alternative way of playing without him. If it's a lengthy injury Txiki might be looking at a natural left back in Jan.
