As you were typing the above I was typing an email to the Telegraphs Sam Wallace, Chief Sports reporter and author of an attack on the club ANDFANS yesterday, I know it wont do any good but it was that or watch X Factor. Here is what i put............

Sam,

I read your article in Saturdays Telegraph and it made me think, will you be attending next Saurdays home game at Manchester Citys Etihad Stadium?
If you are not going will any other Telegraph reporter ?
If so will you be availing yourself of the free drinks and food that is available to the media or would that be against your high moral standards
Surely it would be much better if you just told him to fuck off.

Disastrous appointment. The reputation of the Foreign Office has fallen even lower than it was when Boris was there. Hedges is clearly a security analyst, not an academic, and was probably hawking round sensitive market research to arms manufacturers and dealers. Durham University also have a lot of serious questions to answer about his bogus doctoral thesis.
A 31yr old student? Get a job pal!

Could you repeat this in English please.

This is a quote from Tony Blair in 2006....

"The defining characteristic of today's world is its interdependence; that whereas the economics of globalisation are well matured, the politics of globalisation are not; and that unless we articulate a common global policy based on common values, we risk chaos threatening our stability, economic and political, through letting extremism, conflict or injustice go unchecked.

The consequence of this thesis is a policy of engagement not isolation; and one that is active not reactive.

Confusingly, its proponents and opponents come from all sides of the political spectrum. So it is apparently a "neo-conservative" ie rightwing view, to be ardently in favour of spreading democracy round the world; whilst others on the right take the view that this is dangerous and deluded - the only thing that matters is an immediate view of national interest.

Some progressives see intervention as humanitarian and necessary; others take the view that provided dictators don't threaten our citizens directly, what they do with their own, is up to them."

In short there are camps on both the left and the right of the political spectrum, who advocate an interventionist foreign policy (for very different reasons) to establish liberal democracy all over the world (Blair's Common values). Conversely there are camps on both the left and right that believe otherwise, they advocate that unless a country poses a real and present danger (or, and this is a favourite of the right, they have something we want) they should be allowed to get on with it (again the right and left come to this conclusion for very different reasons).

That is why Sheikh Mansour and City gets stick from columnists in both the Guardian and the Telegraph, while other columnists of similar political persuasions don't give a stuff.

There is a strain of thought that just as global corporations reach every corner of the world, so should global politics, and its brand should be liberal democracy. And you see it in action here.....

from Amnesty International on the pardoning of Matthew Hedges:

The scales will surely fall from the UK Government’s eyes now, with ministers and officials urgently reassessing the UK’s entire relationship with the UAE. We’d like to see a far more robust position from the UK in defence of human rights across the entire Gulf region.

Since 2011, the UAE authorities have embarked on a ruthless crackdown targeting human rights defenders, judges, lawyers, academics, students and journalists, apparently designed to stamp out all dissent in the country.

Many of those arrested have been subjected to arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, torture and unfair trials. As a result, critics and dissidents in the UAE are serving lengthy prison sentences simply for peacefully exercising their right to freedom of expression.

The UAE authorities regularly use criminal defamation, cyber and overly-broad anti-terrorism laws to detain, prosecute, convict and imprison government critics and prominent human rights defenders."

Remember Blair banging on about "common global policy based on common values: In laymen's terms it means everyone must become like us.

“Spy freed after Manchester City demand his release”

I expect this to be rolling around SkyNews for the rest of the day, MUEN website, and the top story in tomorrow's RDAHMeedya print outlets. But there again, I've been waiting in CBL3 since we opened for a squadron of sky blue pigs to zoom down from Droylsden in a ceremonial flypast!

The only change will be a new buzz word for the bingo they all play to fill in the gap that his release has left.

So, when this guy is released - & I predict that he will be - will ALL the press praise City; City fans and our owners? Will they ****

Knew this would end in this way because despite the attacks on UAE, some of the states are v sophisticated & know how to react. Just because we treat every Tom Dick & Harry terrorist with kid gloves doesn’t mean we are in a position to advise other countries!!

I’m still waiting for the complimentary links to our club but guess it’s “old news “ now they can’t use it to beat us up!! Back to DS claims....

What got me was the media believed the wife did no research and really believed it was a 5 minute trial! Even after they had press conference and said it wasn’t a 5 minute trial but over months of investigation they still kept the same Narative! Bias and agenda driven media.

She's getting in on the joke right? She doesn't actually think City fans want the club to be given credit for this, does she?

Love this reply from one Blue .........
On behalf of the nation, I’d like to thank Franny Lee, Vincent Kompany & Barry from Brinnington for negotiating the release of that student in Abu Dhabi.

To be fair, I'd normally give Marina the benefit of the doubt, but it wont be taken that way by the twitterati
