Underrated albums.

Stone cold classic.

“Way Down Now” is one of my favorite ever songs, like a fusion of the Stones and Beatles. That alone makes “Goodbye Jumbo” great.

“Three Feet High and Rising” is a great album, but not underrated. I think it’s the second highest rated rap album on RS 500 greatest albums of all times, it’s in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, etc.

If you consume music on the basis of a Rolling Stone ranking a quarter of a century after release; I guess not.

I love to “discover” stuff I missed first time round but I’ve been well aware of the existence and critical standing of the albums I referred to for over 25 years. That Forever Changes stands at #40 in the RS ranking, overrates it imo but each to his own. Big Star album is really good and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is one I’ve owned since its original release.

One day I’ll get round to buying What’s Goin’ On by Marvin Gaye ;-)
