Deliberately knocked off my pushbike by angry motorist

If motorists are a threat to cyclists what about cyclists to pedestrians. Like going through red lights, travelling on pavements, canal towpaths and through parks and walkways at 30 mph plus. They can be an absolute pain in the arse the Lycra mob.

F..k me. 30mph? I have raced for many, many years and dreamed of doing 30mph. Me thinks you exaggerate.

I have seen many motorists and pedestrians ignoring red lights and nobody complains about them.

To finish off. Being killed or even injured by a cyclist is extremely rare.

Only one winner when a car hits a cyclist. Don't get angry, stay calm.

i’ll take the abuse from bike haters in return for a little advice..

I was knocked off my bike on Friday by a driver who accused me of undertaking him.. I was in the left lane of a two lane roundabout both going straight on and he ended up behind me...

He came alongside me and put both windows down to bark abuse and narrowed the gap to the point that he hit me and pushed me into the kerb which broke my wheel and I fell off.. I took the brunt of the force on my shoulder and broke my collar bone in 3 places (now plated following surgery) I also have a complex fracture on my opposite hand that they couldnt fix as they said that hand surgery can often exacerbate problems.

I have at least one witness who has made a statement to the police to say he hit me deliberately so I am now waiting for the police to contact me.

Can anybody recommend a claims firm in the Chester area who can take my case? I have material damage to my bike and kit plus physical damages clearly.. I really want him to be stopped from doing this again as he even stopped his car after hitting me to abuse me in the road

Use someone like Eversheds - they will take him to the cleaners, get you a payout and get him to cover your costs. Don’t scrimp - get a decent solicitor- and hike up the costs - that idiot will be paying. I hope you are okay.

I get to 30 MPH briefly where the guy hit me (according to my Garmin anyway) but I was thankfully going a little slower on Friday as the car was in my face...

Thankfully I managed to get in touch with all the accident witnesses.. the guy following had given his phone number with the digits mixed up but I traced him on Google.. He said the driver tried to hit me twice before making contact so he’s in deep shit I’d say .. the guy said the driver was pretty ballsy at first (he stopped to have a go you see) then realised what he’d done I think and went into shock

As a motorist and a cyclist, I would say cars are by far the worst. Few serious cyclists ride their bikes on pavements. Some cars drivers however, are all too keen to jump lights, break speed limits, and pay no regard to other road users. Some also seem to think it is OK to park their vehicles completely on pavements, blocking access for others, and especially parents with prams.

That said, I was driving home recently and a cyclist deliberately rode down the centre of the road to stop me overtaking him, about 50 yards from a junction. There was enough room though, so I went past him anyway, and was then treated to a tirade of abuse.

All road users should show more consideration for others.

That’s not the point of the thread.

can't be doing with cyclists but this is a disgrace. hope you fucking destroy him in court.

Not saying the driver was right to do what he did but aren’t cyclists supposed to dismount at roundabouts?

There are “CYCLISTS DISMOUNT” signs all around Brooklands roundabout (you’ll know it if you live around Altrincham Wythenshawe and Sale) but I don’t ever see cyclists dismounting and walking.

One day one is going to get piled into and killed on that roundabout, it’s a danger waiting to happen because cyclists ignore the signs too often.

Maybe if i’d been on a cycle path but I was on the road... I do ride along a stretch with cycle paths too (or did till Friday) but they are optional... I use the road as it’s my right to do so...
