Put it this way, if someone had simply offered me way back in August...

Possibly being only four points behind leaders Liverpool in the first week in January, having topped our Champions League group, with a round of 16 draw against Schalke to come; a two-legged League Cup semi-final against Burton Albion and an FA Cup home draw against Rotherham; having also beaten United and won at Arsenal, Spurs and drawn at Anfield; without arguably our best player?

I'd have snapped your arm off!!

Fine margins and all that.
 
Not confident at all. It would be a different story if we had all our players fit and ready for the game and were closer to them on points.

What concerns me the most is that we need to win this game to have any realistic chance of retaining the title. They know this and will adapt accordingly. I expect them to sit back, soak up the pressure and hit us on the break (even more than usual). They'll double up on our wingers (like they usually do) and put Firminho on Fernandinho with Salah and Mane making their diagonal runs between the fullbacks and the centre-backs. Danilo and Walker are a must in this game. Zinchenko doesn't have the necessary pace or physical strength. Ederson needs to preempt their runs perfectly and always be ready to clear the danger.

They'll rely on their ability to punish the smallest of mistakes, knowing that we are not robust defensively and concede far too many goals from few chances.
 
Haven't been this nervous/excited about a game like this in a long time! Absolutely buzzing...Come On City let's do these dippers...

They don't need to win so will sit back unless they are cocky enough to take it to us

For me it's about taking our chances, we will have more possession & will create some chances but will we take them??

Liverpool will sit back but there finishing is second to none.

They have been given a few pens of late, Sterling goes down it will be looked as a dive yet Salah has been cheating everytime

My prediction is 2-2
 
I feel relaxed about this game, I think we'll win it.

Everyone is talking about the pressure on us, but Liverpool can see on the not too distant horizon something they've never won before, despite coming so close on a number of occasions, most recently 2014, where we snatched the crown that should have been theirs at the last moment. Their fan base, for all their bullshit, are consumed with always the bridesmaid never the bride disease.

They want the title so much, too much in fact, it'll be their undoing.
