Are Labour a total shambles now as an opposition?

When Labour left the working man with his dick in his hand and focused instead on platforming and identity politics the party became a permanently in opposition party. I hope in time someone takes it round the back of the shed with a shotgun so that a decent party can flourish in its place and challenge the Tories.

It's a stupid article with a false comparison. Democrats in the US don't have a third of their voters wanting the wall.

Opposing Trump offends none of their core support - it's what they exist for.

Brexit is the Upas tree for Tories and Labour, and the whole country (and this forum), poisoning the atmosphere and leaving carnage anywhere near it.

Excellent article.

Whilst I found this humorous in how the author made the point, it’s no laughing matter...

Yet that has been Labour’s position since 2016, terrified by those Labour seats that backed leave. It’s resulted in the absurdity of Labour policy being a “jobs-first Brexit”: you might as well call for a patients-first disease. There can’t be a jobs-first Brexit because every version of Brexit is worse for the economy and jobs than staying in the EU.

You don’t hear Democrats talking about a migrants-first wall

The irony is that Corbyn is trying to rectify that, in my belief.

This is why he's glad about Brexit. I think he wants reset the course direction of the country and make it self reliant and do trade with, but not dependant on Europe.

Yet you seem to oppose the very idea of him... cos it's him.

Corbyns bourgeois identity politics don't appeal to either me or so it seems many of the electorate. He's a rich wealthy member of the elite telling the working class that he's on their side, cafe politics designed to ensnare any minority cause.

I’m only 35 so I’m sure older posters will be able to contribute more but I can’t remember one

Well yeah I’m 26.

But looking back through history, I’m struggling to find an opposition leader facing a worse Tory government and still being behind.

So, if that's the case why keep voting an 'elite' in as a people??

By your own logic, they are all bourgeois politicians, but nobody seems to want someone in their own image, so therefore, continually gets shafted by bourgeois politicians!!

You need to make up your minds to vote for someone who care more or cares less out of the "bourgeois politicians".

It's a tiresome merry-go-round.

It’s the electorate’s fault. If they would actually open their eyes and see the light and stop being so thick and ignorant, everything would be ok.

I don't need to make up my mind, myself and millions like me will do as we please. I'll not vote for a group of people who obviously care nothing for the working classes, Labour is a middle class and any minority party now and it's dead in the water and the polls are showing it.

That's exactly it mate, they think that the British working class are Turkeys that are going to vote for Xmas.

William Hague.

He was facing a political juggernaut in Blair though.

Corbyn is facing the most pathetic Prime Minister in my life, overseeing the economic and social destruction of Britain and still can’t get ahead.
