Kyle Walker : 2018/19 performances

He needs to up his game to get Danilo off the perch. Thought he was poor again today
Not a great performance, aside from that sequence for the own goal (which is the Kyle we remember from the first half of last season).

I think the rest he is likely to get over the next few weeks will do him good, though.

With Danilo out injured Walker hasn't had a break all last year so he has got jagged of late, so I think he has been rested rather than dropped, thought he looked fresher than of late
Let's hope he can get a bit of rotation ready for the run in.

He has massively gone off the boil. He gives the ball away constantly. His attacking threat is poor too. So many bad crosses.
Also has this macho thing where he has to out muscle someone before he will release the pass. Annoys me.

He needs to refocus and be the player he was last year.[/QUOTE]

Sadly I agree.
Btw, you forgot his defending, quite awful. He could learn a lot from young Garcia.

Kyle was special when he was bombing down the line, but those days have gone.
Has nothing special as a footballer now. Nice lad though.

Looking at the squad this is a position where we clearly could improve.

Still showing signs of a confidence drop on the pitch against Wolves, mishit crosses and little touches not working for him. He has to keep playing where we can afford to play him, to get out of the rut

That has also been bothering me. He does it nearly every time he dribbles forward in midfield (when he has tucked inside, per instructions), and often that is when he needlessly loses the ball, despite having two completely open teammates to pass to most of the time.

Then again, as I have said elsewhere, I am the arse on the pitch screaming at his teammates to pass the ball whenever they have the audacity to dribble more than five yards with it in midfield, so perhaps I am unduly biased toward one- and two-touch passing.

When Mendy comes back, Danilo can play RB and Walker can take a long break. Send him to Dubai for a few days, keep him off the pitch for a couple of weeks.

He's ridiculously out of form and it's hard to beleive it's not rooted in the fact he played about 85 games without a break for club and country in the 18 months after joining us.
