Wayne Rooney - new manager at DC United (P55)

Strange that the BBC headline is the excuses being put up by his PR people. Surely the headline is that he was arrested (like all the papers have led with).

BBC this morning talked to someone in America who described it as 'one step above a speeding ticket'.

If that's accurate, it's a bit of a non-story.

This is the broad he was with at the time.

So he’s gone a bit upmarket in the States, then?

This guy is the same age as David Silva and what a contrast in where their careers are at the moment. Various brushes with the law for drink related activities and smokes as well, the guy is wadded and doesn’t need any more money but wheres the drive to keep going and look after your body to keep going at the highest level?

It must be part of the deal they made reporting it. As someone else pointed out why did this story appear 3 weeks after the offence was committed? The media are giving him such as easy ride over it.

Give Rooney a few more years and he’ll be on the same path as Gazza. Those around him need to help him and not make excuses for him - I understand he has drink related problems but those around him are as much in denial as him. Things won’t get better for him until he confronts the problem.
