Anthony Taylor (of Altrincham)

Just another point is that he could also have easily booked the goalscorers for the first and last goals for running into the crowd but didn't. Anyone remember Uwe being booked for high fiving fans after scoring but running back towards the halfway line?

Just watched tunnel cam & it showed the clip when the captains meet the ref, off trots Silva chaperoned by Brian Kidd & for the Rags Young is chaperoned by Peg. Is it common for the Manager to go in.
Very OT , but on the Tunnel cam , I saw pep’s mentor hug every city player before they went out. Very good backroom spirit.

Har har my mate did a comedy run all the way down from the back of the North stand in the corner to join in when he saw uve high fiving everyone. He just missed as uve ran past but his momentum took him right over the wall and into a heap on the track through the crowd

Ah yes, your 'mate.'

;)

Hot on the heels of Taylor turning down a stonewall penalty against Liverpool on Thursday when Robertson grabbed Sterling and threw him to the floor, yesterday the pretend Alty fan gave Oldham a penalty without a second's hesitation when a Fulham player committed an identical foul.

To be fair watching that one live you could only see Sterling go down, no-one had any idea if there was any contact until the replays. You either see something or you don't.

This is why we need VAR.

Don't know about that, one thing the replay showed was that Taylor and the linesman both had clear, unobstructed views from 2 different angles and couldn't fail to see the contact.

Agree with you 100% on VAR but even in real time I honestly couldn't believe no penalty was given. Even after the replay Gary Chuckle came out with "Nothing there". Unless he was talking about what's between his ears. As I said though, the offences were identical so how come Alty sees one and not the other?

Still not sure there was any contact and I have no idea how Alty fan could have seen anything. I suspect it was a guess and as it was a relatively low key game then it would be ok for him to guess

You never know, he might of said after the game I should of given that. I thought he had a fair game to be honest, many refs could of sent off Kompany and he spotted it as a yellow which I think was just about right.

The refs only get 1 chance and as it all happens at speed it is difficult. Sterling doesn't have the best reputation either as he does go down easy sometimes imo.

And then didn't replay it at any point, which is a usual Sky signature move.

Where was Taylor standing in relation to the incident? Without seeing it repeatedly, I recall seeing Sterling's arm come over Robertson's shoulder/back as they were going down, and if Taylor can only see that (Sterling being blocked by Robertson), he may not have seen what Robertson was up to prior to seeing Sterling's arm.

The linesman has no such excuse, unless it's one of these where the ref has told the linesmen to not make any decisions.

Live as in at the game?

From my armchair it was obvious on first look.

The penalty for Oldham, was very clear - Sessegnon grabbed the Oldham player before the ball came over, continued holding him as it came nearer, and didn't stop. You can almost see that Taylor has seen it.

The penalty for Fulham was an appalling decision, and VAR failure.
