Burnley (FA Cup) Post Match Thread

Gundog class when he fills in Ferns spot. Not so good just in front. Unfortunately he isn't happy being a back up. Mahrez better on the left today I thought. Kev is just on a different level even amongst our set of legends! I thought Walker is looking more mobile now even if he didn't play great. And Danilo is becoming superb. Sorry if most of that doesn't fit the script! :)

Think Danilo has been very consistent since he came back in. Even when we haven't played too well, he has looked composed and solid.

Very comfortable win,Burnley had no ambition, pleased for Jesus manufacturing his own clever goal,Kevin just getting another step back to his best with a classic goal, and best of all Peps management of players time on the pitch is in another league,he just seems to get it right most times.

Easy in the end with a good run out for some squad members. Only downside was me and the mrs couldn't have got any wetter even if we'd have swam back to town up the fucking canal.
You should enter a competition to win a holiday mate - like the bloke they interviewed on the stadium big screen at halftime

Just a bit of corner flag trivia - I had 4 corner flags from Maine Road on me bedroom wall for a while, can’t remember what season? Blue with white M.C.F.C stamped on no badges on as Swales couldn’t afford them :)
Also when did the halfway line flags die out?
They've always been optional. I guess that now that we don't have mudbath pitches the halfway line can always be seen so became unnecessary (and rather in the way with subs and 4th official milling around). At least you'd have a spare handy if a corner flagpost broke.

Seriously ?? I thought he was great until moved into Fernandhino's spot, where I think he's poor, Burnley had already surrendered when he went back there today.

And that was when Burnley had their best spell and we lost the plot for a bit.

Even though they played a second string side Burnley were in as good a form as any side outside the top 6 in the past month and a half so it was a big statement to make.

Second half we jelled well , anybody thinking that Mahrez was not a good buy had better think again , he will play a pivotal role in our quest to cut the gap to Liverpool off the bench more than likely in the run in.

We have had a good run with injuries of late so touch wood that stays as is for the remainder of the season and if we can get our best 11 out their most weeks in the last 15 games I suspect we will take it right up to Liverpool albeit you would still fancy them as how meekly they exited from domestic cups and how unlikely it is they will go much further in Europe.

Excellent throughout the team , it appeared we could score when we wanted and it helps that the last twenty minutes are like a training session and we can rest players like Dinho , the six fingered ones went through the City bingo song sheet , WWYWYWS , shit man yoonited , is this a library etc etc but didnt here much from them when the 2nd goal went in. Onward and upward virtually fully fit squad players like KDB and jesus coming back into form , this could be a momentous season

Apart from a 5 minute spell where we tried our best to gift them a goal we dominated the game. How the fuck they still manage to play the short sharp passing game in that atrocious weather is beyond me. It possibly shows how natural it is for the players now.
And a big clap for all those that went yesterday.

We are being spoilt, we really are. A couple of misplaced passes and you still get idiots - pointing and shouting 'shoulda passed it 'im'. These are the same ones who don't understand why our CBs play loads of short passes to each other. A sizeable chunk of our fans still don't understand that Pep's trying to draw the opposition towards our CBs and into places they don't want to be. They don't understand that Pep's trying to move the opposition around the pitch and out of shape to leave space for us to exploit and think we should CHAAAARGE non-stop at the opposition.

I read this several times and then understood there was meant to be a comma in there but my first reaction was: “Mate, what’re you on about, KDB and Jesus are NOT squad players.” ;-)
