Why we will win the league!

I don't think we'll win it but come close only because I think we'll go deep into the two cup comps.

I so hope you are right!

If you cant win at least get a draw

This pisses me off more than anything. Anyone can have a bad day but don’t piss away a point! The Leicester and Newcastle games particularly. I omit Palace as I think at home and with a full half to play, we were right to go for it and it took a complete fuck up from Walker to lose us that match but against those two we were poor pretty much all game and a point would have at least been something.

Pool have tightened up..... losing Gomez was a big loss, it will go down to the wire

Great post from OP.

Our place will be absolutely bouncing on Sunday. Beat Arsenal and the pressure ramps up another notch on the dippers. West Ham have a good record at home to the top teams this season and if they stop the dippers winning we can go top if we beat struggling Everton on Wednesday.
That's the spirit - or as another poster would probably say, " I like the cut of your jib, sir!"

Might be wrong but I’m pretty sure we drew 3-3 at home to Sunderland in 11/12, getting a late equalizer, everyone at the time pissed off we dropped points. Turned out pretty important that point me thinks...

Twice against Sunderland it’s happened.

In 2012 we drew 3-3 from 1-3 down in March, and in 2014 we drew 2-2 from 1-2 down in April.

I have a dipper fan who works for me, god knows how I haven’t yet sacked the fucker, but quelle surprise, he’d eaten the Scouse/Klopp handbook again this morning - all the ref’s fault, “should have been a penalty, Maguire should have had a red” blah blah blah. I pointed out how many shit pens they get and could he show me many times a defender gets red for a foul on half way line, and then about Leicester’s missed chances. Just went quiet the soft twat.
Don't sack him yet. Enjoy the moments when they capitulate and we overtake them which could be next week. They will twitch more than the King of the Jungle then.

It was! I remember everyone being pissed off both at the ground and on here but it was vital which obviously we didn’t know at the time. I’m sure everyone would have been equally pissed off with a point at Newcastle straight after the game but it’s these fine margins that win titles in close run years. We seem to be lacking a bit of character and fight when the going gets tough this season. I’m not sure why.

If anyone wants comedy gold ... head over to the RAWK “Red and a White Kop” forum and read the last 10 or so pages on a thread called “Chasing the Title, the pack chasing us” ... it’s absolute comedy and a meltdown of epic proportions ... and we haven’t even cranked the pressure on that lot yet, what’d they do when we are within one game swing of them ;)

Buy candle , blame everyone, mayor involvement, smash city bus ?

I dont think we can afford to fall any further behind than we are, they would have all but won the league had they won last night.

As others have said that result may well be better than had both teams won this week. As it goes I think they are still favourites and will be more so should they go out of the Champions League before us.

Their league fixtures are possibly more tricky than ours and they may well come up against teams fighting to stay up at the back end of the season which is always hazardous. Throw into the mix how the pressure will build the nearer to the end of the season we get and of course City have been here before and come out on top. Experience is so often the difference in these things and we have much more of it than they do.

If we can stay close to them I think we could well pinch it. I think the pressure will tell on them,

My concern is that we do not seem to be firing on all cylinders and the manner of our recent defeats have thrown up some questions, and whether we can be consistent enough to build that pressure is far from certain.

If I were forced to bet my life on the outcome right now I would sadly have to give it Liverpool, but whilst the gap remains 5pts or under then there is an awful lot that could go wrong for them, I think they will drop points and are an injury to Salah or Van Dyke away from having some serious problems where I think we have a deeper squad and with the exception of Fernandinho have decent cover for any other losses to injury.

The coming week will tell us alot, can we ramp it up by beating Arsenal and leaving them with a two point lead when they face a West Ham team in desperate need of redemption after the clusterfuck at Wimbledon. Ironic they were singing the praises of an ex manager on Tuesday night, thinking he had presented them a chance to all put wrap it up. How ironic it would be if less than a week later an ex manager of ours were to put the skids under their challenge and leave them feeling our breath on the back of their necks.

I've just looked at the league table and two things stick out.

1. PL winners usually lose on average 3-5 games per season.
Last year was an anomaly because we were so good that we only lost 2, United and Liverpool.
This season, Liverpool have lost one, to us.
We've lost 4 so far, all against so called 'cannon fodder'.
We have big 6 teams still to play, so that doesn't fill me with hope, and I really think we have more chance of dropping points than them.

2. Spurs are only 2 points behind us

24 games gone ... 14 still to go ... that’s almost 37% of the season still remaining ... that’s more than 1/3rd of games still to be played ...

Be positive people ... we all saw on TV the negative energy the Anfield crowd was carrying and how it got transferred to thier players last night ... so much so that even Van Dyk mentioned it in his post match interview ... and I strongly feel they’re primed for bottling it up, their own history suggests that, their fans know it and their manager has his own bottle-job history!

What we need is the positive energy just like we transferred onto our players at Etihad when we played that lot at the start of January ... so bring that on every home game and as I said at the start ... let’s do this!
