Periodontal Cleaning

No....nothing to do with my arse..

Went to the dentist on Friday, all is good but Im told I need the periodontal (deep) cleaning as I have early signs of Periodontal disease in my gums.
Apparently I have to have my gums numbed as its quite painful.
If the disease takes hold your teeth can literally fall out.

Ive never heard of this before, has anyone had this ?

Joking aside pal, my Mrs (35 years in Dentistry) is a qualified specialist dental nurse, so I asked her and her response was this >

Periodontitis is no joke and may cause tooth mobility and fatally loss. The first thing you need to do is visit your Dentist and see a Hygienist, in the interim purchase some Corsodyl mouthwash or Peroxyl and use as directed Please read the contra indications for allergic reactions!. I can not STRESS enough a Dental appointment is vital. you may have acute ulcerative gingivitis which may be painful for you to brush, once you have seen a hygienist to remove calculus and plaque and follow oral hygiene instruction you might stop the perodontitis from progressing, good luck and post on here how you get on.

My wife told me yesterday about new evidence linking alzheimers with gum disease. Possibly a massive breakthrough in medical science.
