If there was a game next week between today's line up and City's 1968 championship winning team featuring Bell, Lee, Summerbee, Doyle, Heslop, Young etc, what would the score be?

Realistically the current team would destroy them, and you don't need to have seen both play to know that.

The level of football has gone up massively since the 60's. Players drilled in academies from 5 years old, coaching techniques pulled from global resources with coaching qualifications and dozens of back room staff, and instead of the best players in the UK with the odd international, we now have the best players from across the world in the best teams.

The other thing is the concentration of money at the top of football has made sides so much better. Most of the great sides of the 60's, 70's and 80's across Europe had a handful of star players backed up by academy or local lads. The top 5 or 6 teams in Europe now have a depth of quality from 1-11 that was completely and utterly unheard of in the past.

City were probably the fittest team in the country in 1968, and had some fantastic players (Every single one was English), but I think even Big Mal would be lost for words after the current team ripped them to pieces.
