Highlights

Over 40% of insect species are threatened with extinction.

Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera and dung beetles (Coleoptera) are the taxa most affected.

Four aquatic taxa are imperiled and have already lost a large proportion of species.

Habitat loss by conversion to intensive agriculture is the main driver of the declines.

Agro-chemical pollutants, invasive species and climate change are additional causes.

Meanwhile, vertebrates aren't fairing much better in the Earth's sixth major mass extinction...

Brilliant!

You can tell there's been a change in the amount of bugs from the windscreen test. Go back a few years, taking a long trip on the motorway you'd always end up with a good chunk of splattered bugs on your windscreen. Isn't the case anymore. Deeply deeply worrying.
Yep. Hardly saw any moths last summer either.

On the bright side, we've had a small family of Ladybirds living in our bathroom window secondary glazing this winter. Counted 14 this morning.

I've got a nine year old daughter and it scares the crap out of me to think what the world will be like when she's my age. There's massive fucking warning signs going off all over the place and yet our politicians are doing fuck all about it.

I read about this earlier
Why don't politicians, business etc i.e those in a position of influence do more? They have more money than most but even then they are not going to insulated from it all, they will still have to live on this planet
