The current team is multi national. You cannot compare a mainly British team like the 68's with the current squad

It wasn't "mainly British", it was all English. There were very few overseas players back then in any top team.

No. Totally different game now. I have a relative who played professional football in the 60s and 70s including several seasons in the old first division for a team who also played in Europe. He happily admits that any Premier League team would destroy the top teams from back then.

Not only has football moved on, so has fitness.

Any 68 team would destroy a 37 team for instance. (But not by as much as science has moved more exponentially between 68 and 2019 than 1937 to 1968)
