League Cup Final Post - Match Thread

Zola is clearly with the rest of the spoilt twats that are running the show.

I saw it differently, I think Zola was very very upset with the keeper - so in other words, supporting Sarri..

The laws of the game state...............

Under the Laws, the referee has no specific power to force a player to be substituted, even if the team manager or captain has ordered their player to be substituted. If a player refuses to be substituted play may simply resume with that player on the field. However, in some situations players may still be liable to punishment with a caution (yellow card) for time wasting or unsporting behaviour.

Yes, good point - I did actually say this earlier cos I heard the lady on Talksport refer to the letter of the law.

But the letter of the law is one thing, normal respect for the manager is another. I have never seen anything like this today and I had a funny feeling when it happened, we would win :)

(Great pic by the way - World of Sport was so much better the Grandstand!)

Moss bottled a number of decisions, why no endless replays of the first second elbow? red card glossed over, Offside for the goal was too close to call, as VAR is supposedly for clear and obvious errors, it was a correct, if wrong, decision to go with the officials first call, if only that were true in all instances. Rudiger booking was clear, however he had got up from a previous bookable offence so should have been booked twice, Jorginho (how glad am I we missed out there) straight red? thought so at first, but there was a Chelsea defender coming across so maybe the right decision??

Zinchenko, proper game lad, motm for me, how long was Laporte carrying the injury, made a number of uncharacteristic mistakes before coming off, great penalty by Gundog, my mother would have saved Leroys', Raheems aged me another 5 years, tough game, all played well

Chelsea set up acknowledged they aren't good enough to go toe to toe with us, as if that needed any recognition after the 6-0, Hazard is undoubtedly a highly skilled individual, pity he falls over in a gentle breeze, and pity for him footballs a team sport. Pedro the same other than the highly skilled bit, Sarri.....oh dear, show some balls man, pretty much apologised to the keeper after the game, Kepa, shocking, and where was the captain to back up his manager (not that he should need it)

The free kicks were all rubbish today (both teams) do they use a different ball in the league cup? I really think they should -FIFA & UEFA - pick one ball and stick to it, for every competition.

I said to the kids that he could refuse to be subbed and I've never seen a player do so

No, he wasn't and a quick look by VAR would have shown that.
They did review it, and the FA feed (with offside line) showed he was just on, but Moss/VAR still disallowed the goal.

Roll on VAR...

Thought we looked tired after the first half and just had none of our normal sharpness. Buzzing that Raheem got the winner and to see the celebrations makes it so much harder to understand why other teams just bin these competitions off.

The Kepa situation was hilarious but fair play to him for backing himself. I suspect his 'injury' may have been a time wasting ploy that went badly wrong. Also fair play to Sarri for taking the responsibility and not selling out a player if the explanation is truthful.

MoM was Kante but Zinchenko was the best of our bunch. He handled Pedro and Hudson-Odoi pretty well and put in some decent crosses - he seems to have added that threat to his game.

Worse moment of the match was seeing Kompany and Otamendi playing pass the parcel instead of attempting some forward passes.

We say it every week but Ederson is beautiful the way he disrespects the opposition closing him down .

Kinnell that was hard work.....and only just made our train.
I think Zin edged MOTM..just over Bernado.
Sergio looked well offside from the stands so I'm surprised everyone saying he was on.
Thought our support was really quiet...but fuck it stick another trophy in the cabinet.

Georginho should have gone for this. Clear intent and dangerous.

I'm sure the disciplinary panel will be all over it...…….. Oh, wait - will they fuck, because Sky/BT/BBC aren't showing it on a loop.

Winston Reid says hi by the way.
