League Cup Final Post - Match Thread

Zinchenko was fantastic and much stronger defensively. He is getting better with every game. He could turn out to be gem for the club long-term.
Be nice to see him play in his natural position for abit . I like the guy and I wouldn’t sell unless a big offer came in

Chelsea fan friend going on and on about the Hazard offside being wrong. Setting aside the absurdity after all the ref decisions they got did we ever get a definitive view of that?

Didn't want to start a new thread but does anyone know the last time we lost a penalty shootout? The only one that comes to mind was in the league cup 2nd or 3rd round maybe under Keegan which is obv a few years back now!

The only two I can remember are Doncaster and Brighton away in the league cup

Sort of. Basically, if Aguero was offside, Hazard certainly was.

Met a guy yesterday in boxpark who would always go to the games with his daughter, however tragically his daughter passed away last Monday. He wasn’t going to go but was pushed to by friends and the Mrs - broke my heart listening to the fella.

Was absolutely buzzing for him over the result, if you post on here mate - CONGRATS, hope you enjoyed the day and got through it ok. Hopes and thoughts are with you.

He doesn’t like it, though, does he?
We are talking about a few games while Dinho is injured. I’m sure he will happily accept it under the circumstances. Desperately need to make a quality signing in that position this summer though. Considering the depth we have generally, it’s ludicrous that we are so reliant on one player and a 33 year old at that.

Ask him how Jorginho stayed on the pitch? Or how Atkinson failed to overturn Kun’s Offside when it was pretty clear on the VAR images that he was on-side.

Watched this guy talking to Ian cheeseman on his vlog-brought a tear to my eyes too.

Just watched the whole game back and although the camera angles are hopeless, the Jorginho incident looks very poor in the opening seconds.

I think Zinchenko should have been sent off too for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity when tripping up (although he didn’t mean it, it was just clumsiness) Kante.

I think we have some very silly fouls away and passes away all over the place. We looked lethargic across the team, or should I say, Chelsea looked more energetic than us.

But for us not being that good, or below par, Chelsea didn’t do a great deal in terms of scoring. Just that one real shot that Kante had and that was it really. We messed up a few really good opportunities.

So that dickead of a keeper admitted feigning injury to ease the pressure on his side, according to the guardian report.

Afterwards he compounded the offence by claiming that he had exaggerated his injury in order to give his team a respite).

Thank God we beat this shower!

That was the moment we won it. I reckon it’ll given our lads a lift that he stayed on for the penalties as they’ll have looked at him like he’s a joke.

Penalties are 95% in the mind, 5% actually running up and kicking it.

He also took fucking ages to get to the right place while Luiz was waiting to take his penalty because he was celebrating saving Leroy’s pen and was so carried away he was stood in the wrong side. May have played on Luiz’s mind.

The term best used to describe to describe him is, A Professional Wanker!

The DT this morning alluded to the offsides as though they were items for negotiation. They were both offside. They were nearer the goal line than the ball, etc, etc. and then they add the usual irrelevant shite that 'it was a tight decision', which simply means in the lottery world of referees decisions it could have been flagged or the lino could have held his counsel!

The answer to why is that it was Atkinson andhe is the most anti-City ref we have to contend with.

Haha every player does it. City players do it, as does every other pro, rightly or wrongly it’s part of the tactic to win a game and tbh...why not? You’re under immense pressure, you get a knock, take 2 mins to get up, gives your teammates a breather and interrupt the flow of pressure

You are right. Just watch the Manchester Derby @ the Etihad on the Amazon documentary- Atkinson’s performance is utterly shameful.
