Interesting theory, if it was down to the car how come Valteri Bottas in the second Mercedes (with exactly the same car) came no where near winning the championship and couldn’t match Lewis Hamilton in qualifying or on race day?

Probably because he's instructed to let Lewis win. Same with the Ferrari gang.

If he’s instructed to let Lewis win and Mercedes have a constructors championship to win why would Bottas end up 5th in the drivers championship?

Tbh Bottas is a pretty average driver. Would love to see a real top driver take Lewis on in the same car but that's never going to happen when Merc are winning both championships year in year out

Mclaren fans and im one of them will be disappointed with that performance after the positive tests.

RIP to Charlie as well, huge loss to the sport and a real shock.

I think Bottas has got one more year and he is gone, if Red Bull don’t give Verstappen a car that can win races he will look at Mercedes to get him where he needs to be.
