How does it slow the game down ? If its not a goal straight from the kick, its a goal kick, it also prevents a team encroaching (to score, or clear), which is then totally subjective on the referee opinion.

Cause it stops the game for a goal kick instead of another chance of an attack and a goal or a quick counter attack

What is it with some of the most deadliest goalscorers struggling to score a penalty?

Aguero, Messi, Ronaldo all not great at taking a penalty just to name a few...Yet they can bang one in the top corner from 30 yards
