How many trophies will we win?

Fuck that, we'll play it and we'll win it.
Meaningless, overlong competition. Very little prestige to be gained from winning it. Potential to disrupt domestic form. I know we won't / can't opt out but it'd be great if we stood up to the greedy clutching fifa bastards and told em to do one.

It was two games played in 3 days up until 2018 and in 2021, if the UEFA boycott doesn't happen, it is expected to be played after the season has finished. To be officially crowned as best team in the world is not meaningless.

Overlong? It's 2 bloody games, one of which is a freebee!

Every trophy on offer is worth winning just by virtue of us competing in it, let alone a competition that you have to win the Champions League to enter. We are experiencing the greatest era of the club's history and we have the best manager in the world for a few short years. Now is the time to make hay - we enter 7 competitions in 2019? We want 7 trophies. Because we can, because winning is a habit, because we don't want anyone else to have it.

I thought there were QF, SF and F to be played. Travelling half way round the world mid season to play 2 hopelessly overmatched teams before facing South America's champions is disruptive.

Nah, European Champions get a bye to the semi finals.

I can name European Cup winners going back 30 years off the top of my head but I haven't got a clue who the winners of the world club cup are and I suspect that applies to the vast majority of football fans so in that sense it's meaningless.

I wouldn't label the vast majority of football fans with your own ignorance.

You've got the last 12 bar Santos in 2012 in that case.

Needless digs aside I think if we took a straw poll on here most fans wouldn't be able to name winners of the world club cup without getting lucky hazarding a guess at whoever won the European Cup that year

not sure of the stats but if we get through tonight i dont think another team has ever been so close
Chelsea in 06/07 won FA Cup and League Cup, CL Semi finals and finished 2nd in the league. They were on for all 4 at this point, and won 2.

Rags in 08/09 roughly got to a similar point, but in different competitions. They won the league, won the League Cup, FA Cup semi finalists and runners up in the CL.

So both won 2, semi finalists in 1 and runners up in another.

Nobody going for a quad at this stage of the season has managed to win 3 let alone all 4! Shows how tough it is. One game at a time I suppose!

The furthest a team has gone into a season with the quadruple still being a possibility is 1 May (Chelsea)
