That the quadruple isn’t going to happen and play reserves and youth players in the two domestic cups. It’s been a heck of a ride and something the club can be extremely proud of.

But we cannot put ourselves in a position again where we play a full strength team in the FA Cup one day and have to rest players a few days later in a CL quarter final.

I know how some will react to this post, especially those that dislike the CL. But when domestic cups become detrimental to success in bigger competitions then something has to give.

Pep has to be bold and honest and put a spin on it like ‘everyone deserves a chance’ in the domestic cups and go all out for PL and CL regardless of what the media will say

Thank you that finally someone made some sense. Favoring the Carabao Cup over Champions League by some is simply a silly joke. The quadruple or even the triple is unrealistic, and highly unlikely to happen. If we started playing the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup mainly with youth, we will win the PL comfortably for many years to come, and we will probably throw a couple of Champions League trophies in between as well. I would take these two competitions over the other two at any time. Who would remember who won the Carabao Cup or even the FA Cup a couple of years after winning them? Arsenal won FA Cup several times over the past few years, who the f**k even cares?

Remove the pointless international breaks and the fixtures could be spread out and perhaps allow for a short winter break. Quad although still tough obviously would be more realistic.

I'd rather talk about things in our control that can happen.

Our B team could still do very well in these competitions to be honest but certain players should not play in them. KDB started an FA Cup game and then a few days later was rested for a CL QF. It's unfathomable.

Fair enough, but the point stands about the impact of internationals on the domestic fixture list. If / when this euro super league idea gets going something will presumably have to give anyway.

We got robbed by VAR last night and should be through to the semi finals. What’s this shit about throwing competitions?

Last night was one of two ties.

The first tie we 'threw away' to rest players that had played in the FA Cup a few days earlier.

I get that some people don't like the CL and or that some want us to try to win every game and every competition. But if we have to rest players for a QF CL game then something isn't right and something has to give.

BTW There's nothing to say that Spurs wouldn't have scored again if there goal was ruled out. It was that kind of game and they were looking dangerous before they scored.

Doesn’t change a thing, we were in front and got robbed. This thread probably wouldn’t exist if that goal gets disallowed and then Pep gets hailed as genius. Sorry mate, don’t understand the logic in throwing competitions.

The logic is simple and clear. There are priorities and bigger prizes. If you have to sacrifice progress in a bigger tournament because you want to win a lesser title then you're doing something wrong.

Pep is a genius, regardless of last night. But picking the team he did v Brighton and then changing it for the Spurs game was his worst decision since becoming our manager. And actually if you see how hurt he is when talking about Bayern in the CL under him, this is gonna hurt and affect him too. And he's going to ask himself a lot of questions about that first leg I'm sure.
