Us being banned from the CL for a year would go down like a trump in a lift with the Premier League.

With no CL games we’d fucking demolish the title and completely ‘devalue’ the competition. No **** would get near us.

Can’t see the Premier League or the other top 6 clubs being anything but unhappy about it.
I think it's a bit naive to assume that this would have no impact on our Premier League status. One City are cast as cheats, then the next step is to move against us in the Premier League. You reckon Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc would not exploit this for every ounce they could get out of it?

However UEFA are a way from getting any of this to stick. It depends on how much they want to push this.

They might support longer though ;-) if so, we lose the manager and players that took us to the top, and can no longer compete, the top players want to be at the top.

As if any of our players would demand to leave based on one year without CL football.

If anything it will also make Pep want to stay for longer. His reaction to the whole Barca independence movement shows his desire to fight against the powers that be. His comments when the investigation was announced pretty much reaffirmed this.

May I ask -- if the issue is the Etihad sponsorship was not actually at arms's length, but we falsified that it was, what sanctions/fines/bans would we have gotten in 2014 that would have been worse than the settlement? Can someone remind me whether it was at, above or below market at the time? Does this mean UEFA wouldn't have settled? What would they have imposed instead?

I'm also still not sure what the "big news" is here. Is it just the specificity about what UEFA plans to seek? Is this really a story? I can be a prosecutor and have a press conference saying I'm seeking the death penalty for a jaywalker -- it's a nice headline but doesn't change anything as to the perpetrator's guilt/innocence nor my ability to successfully prosecute the case.

Would our accountants at the time also not get involved as their integrity would also be called into question? How could city have lied about the amount of sponsorship when it officially gets audited? Also then, would Etihad also not take action against uefa regarding the same point?

I see the winky but that is the aim of his witch-hunt and has been all along. It is now or never for the cartel. We're the best team in Europe, self-sufficient, a staggering growth in income and a growing fan-base amongst the young.

UEFA have to ban us. If it wasn't for misleading them, it would be for something else conceived by the cartel and, incidentally, I suspect the PL will attempt to follow suit in some, way, shape or form. Certainly the usual suspects will be lobbying for it.

I can't see any way out other than a very messy Court case for both parties.
