Ronaldo will get most of the credit but Bernardo is the real reason they won the match. Drove Portugal through a long, poor first half, got them playing on the front foot in the second, and created quite a few chances, including their second goal, sometimes through sheer will and tenacity (winning the ball back himself and making his now trademark clever, dissecting passes up the pitch).

If they had three or four more of him they’d win every international tournament they participate in.
