Angelino

Mendy imo is as good as done as a footballer. 50m pounds down the drain. He just had another surgery recently which could prevent him to do proper pre season. He is not fit to the point he needed a surgery in June after his injury sidelined him since October? Its a joke to be honest.
He came back even played a game in March maybe then out again. Did he came back soon? Was that another fuck up?

Whatever his potential was at Monaco we can safely assume that 20% of that is the maximum for him now. And that might not be the level of Delph. Consecutive serious injuries like this do have an effect and not positive ones.

So no surpprise we are in for LB's we have to sort that position out. I dont think Zinchenko should be number one LB but a perfect cover imo. Angelino is the same. Dont know how he improved in PSV. Certainly did better than Maffeo whose career went down the drain at Stuttgart after promising Girona time.

Just getting Angelino for 5m to sell him for 15m is also a good deal worth doing it. But going into the new season with Zinchenko and a crocked Mendy is risky. We can sort it out now.

I wonder if this sudden Angelino interest is because of a development with Mendy. All reports have been pep is happy with zinchenko and Mendy is on his last chance.

Seems odd that the story has been we weren't going after a leftback, then all of a sudden there's reports we want Angelino back and he is in peps plans.

We could just be using the buy-back and flip him for the cash. But its come out of no where.

You probably wrote Vinny off about 10 times too I guess?

We’ve access to the best medical teams in the world. Don’t write the fella off yet.

Sounds good, but why would he come back to City when he is playing every week for PSV and they are playing in the CL ?

He had 41 appearances, 3590 minutes played.

Why risk losing that and be 2nd or 3rd choice LB ?
If we plan to use KDB junior in midfield, it would mean that Angelino would have plenty gametime with Mendy's current state.

The more I think about it, I'm convinced this is more or less a very cheap insurance policy. Zinchenko will still fight with Mendy for the position but if one gets hurt or is unreliable (say for example one doesn't turn up on time to training), then we have a ready made backup willing to step in who might even be familiar with the system. If he get a shot and proves himself, thats great, but if not, next summer we can very easily make back the 6m and wages it'll take to bring him in. A free option in trading terms.

Vinny suffered injuries and came back stronger than ever
Kun had 3 seasons riddled with injuries

Mendy is just 24, I believe he is gradually adjusting to the demands of the pl and needs to work on his physical conditioning and possibly lose some body mass, he reminds me of Micah Richards, they have the physical strength to carry the body mass but that always comes with a price even Vinny had to shed some body mass. Mendy would come good, he looks like the type to peak in his late 20's, selling him now would be bad business as we wouldn't get more than 10 - 12 m on a 50m footballer.

Its a shame as he looks like hes really trying hard this summer but im not sure he'll ever fulfil his potential realistically without the injurys hes had i think he'd be one of if not the best left back in the world, he has all the attributes to do it so its a massive shame. If this signing happens it shows that pep isn't confident with his recovery.

They play in two different positions mendys game relies on those explosive runs on the left hand side which these injuries have surely hampered?

Putting on my conspiracy hat.
The sudden interest in angelino is due to rodri turning us down, so zinchenko is being moved upfield.

I remember posting about Angelino, probably no less than a week ago and I made a wager with someone that he would go to a top club.

I honestly didn't think It would be so quickly that I'd get to say "I told you so", but it looks like City are as smart as I think they are.

Edit: Just found out it was with BosnianBlue (don't know how to link), hey man did you think it would happen this quickly lol.

I was thinking more along the lines of...

Angelino at left back so we can sign a foreign CB instead of a homegrown CB (Maguire).

Would Angelino count as homegrown? Does anyone know?

That might go hand in hand with what the person you commented to said.

Suppose we lost Rodri (and Zinchenko) goes midfield, then maybe City are adding some funds to go "All Out" for a big CB signing... De Ligt perhaps?

If Rodri for 70m were to succeed I doubt City would have the money to get a CB for 50m or more.
If Rodri fails, City can go big with extra funds and get whatever target they want (because Angelino is so cheap).

So who do we want?

Rodri and mystery CB (Maguire too expensive to get both) OR
Angelino and De Ligt (and we use Luiz/Zinchenko in mid)

Easy choice to me.

I would not get too carried away with this story, the club that got turned away was PSG apparently they have Kurzawa and Burnat already but if this story was accurate i would expect Angelino to break it to us first, or have i missed something?
