Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

As long as it’s not L!VE TV
I actually think this is the East Stand behind Rodri with the picture being warped a little. Screens are in the corner of East/Family and Family/Colin Bell. On the right of the pic is the South Stand as you can make out the half block of 114, where I sit next to the away end.

Safe standing may get it up towards 70,000.

if we add safe standing at the lower levels then 70.000 is about right but add the new 3rd level and we could be be at 75,000 ???

from what as been said by the chairman views on safe standing at the etihad it sounds likely then adding the 3rd level at the moment, the ground work in the first place set by the Commonwealth committee was planed for a 80.000 stadium to be built so the foundations are sound if manchester city want to build the 3rd levels all round the ground, and we seen how fast the work can be done without much fuzz, so again its all good if safe stand or a new 3rd level to pump the size of the crowds

That presumes that the safe standing licence allows more in than would apply with seating.

If I recall the situation at Celtic, the standing area has the same number as it has under seating for UEFA matches.

Doesn't Spurs new stadium have provision for it and it does increase capacity?

The rail seats are in place at Spurs new stadium.

Capacity could only be increased with a change in the law permitting safe standing and for that law to then allow for more people in a standing area than is possible for seating.

A lot of people think they will allow safe standing but only at a ratio of 1:1 with the seats so that capacity would remain the same.

Reckon it'll cap at around 63,000? Don't think there's much more that can be done after a third tier on the North Stand. Guess we're waiting for more news around safe standing.

Target will be 1 more seat than the rags have at the swamp. As a minimum. Our owners will want the largest stadium in Manchester. Laughable to some right now, but before they came if you had been told in 10 years City would have 4 league titles, 2 FA Cups and owned the league cup... become record breakers with 100pts and the first domestic treble...had Pep in charge all whilst United slummed it in the Europa. Well...give it another ten and the club will expect the desire to watch City to be far stronger than United and will build a stadium that is bigger than theirs and so much better.

This one went under the radar.

The rest of the article is behind a pay wall.

Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and West Ham United’s London Stadium are both partially clad in aluminium composite material (ACM), the same type of cladding found on Grenfell Tower, a Construction News investigation has found. In both cases, the stadium operators claim the use of ACM, which is being replaced in hundreds of residential blocks taller than 18 m across the country, is ... https://www.constructionnews.co.uk/?orderby=date&category=0&year=0&s=Manchester

This would complete all my lifelong footballing dreams !

Not sure if you're 100% serious but I'd bet good money that our owners couldn't give a flying fuck about Old Toilet or trying to beat their capacity.

I agree.

Nothing City has done since the takeover, Tevez poster aside and "This is our City and ours alone", would lead any rational person to believe that our business decisions are driven by one-upmanship.

This is a club that made plans years in advance for the arrival of Pep, built the CFA and got his mates on board four years before his arrival.

That doesn't mean we don't drop the occasional bollock, and of course the odd curve ball means we've had to do stuff on the hoof from time to time, but the big stuff is thought out for the medium to long term, we leave short term headless chicken to the rags.

Would have thought City would want our capacity to be high enough to host Champions League Finals. Not sure what that figure is though.

60000 it used to be. It might also be a reason why the owners DO want a stadium bigger than Old Scaffold. I don't know what voodoo UEFA use to select locations for their finals, but they have, in the past, discussed setting a 70k minimum seating capacity. Either way, I can see UEFA currently settling for the rags if Manchester gets it again, purely on capacity. A 60k stadium would end up being below that as attendance (due to segregation), and there hasn't been many of them in the last 20 years. Would need 65k minimum even to get a look in I reckon.

Wow!

Wonder how long they’ve known this? No wonder they don’t want us smoking in the toilets!
