Tour de France 2019

Think we'll know the winner after tomorrow.

Alaphilipe has never been a mountains rider. He might hang on tomorrow but Sky/Ineos are specialists in attrition riding - they will burn ther way up the mountains over the next week and rip the field open. High pace day after day in the mountains is how they win it.

Not even subtle. Alaphlippe is now a Classics rider, decent sprinter, lead out rider, mountain goat and GT specialist. A year ago he was a roller with a punchy finish. I guess the road side fans will not be dousing him in piss.

Lost 3 mins to Thomas last year but now beats him. It's not even subtle.

I am a long time Cycling fan and was one of the last to believe in doping in my beloved sport but now whenever someone wins a stage by beating the best by such a large margin, and this was a relatively large margin, I do wonder. Festina anyone? And he is French.

The manner in which Julian Alaphilippe stormed up the final hill was amazing. I think David Millar was commentating and noted that Philippe was 6 seconds ahead at the final check point and possibly was still about 6 seconds ahead going into the final Km. This means Phillipe took a further 8 seconds in the final Km?? Incredible if my figures are correct...

Its a shame that we always doubt these performance with the years of drug use which still cast a shadow......

I appreciate some people improve and that improvement is not linear but this is off the scale. Quick Step have rarely been off the podium this year but because they are based in a traditional cycling nation, Belgium, who are generally made up of riders from traditional cycling nations, they are not questioned. But when a British rider does well, there is plenty of suspicion. FFS it's turning your legs, not some innate ability based on where you were born.

Did not see that coming, great performance from both riders, Thomas will be No1 for now, got to play smart on the climbs, quickstep aren’t blessed with super domestiques, push hard and blow his support away then one two him. Going to be a great week or so
