Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

No one is paying Gareth Bale 500k/week.

If Madrid want to get rid, they'll need to pay at least 350 of the 600/week. More likely is Bale gets a lump sum from Real as part of a transfer. €50m to convince him to move to a club who'll pay him 250k/w.

Exactly, so he's almost unsellable without Madrid paying a fortune.

Hence my suggestion of a 2 year loan with £10m loan fee (£5m p/a) and a contribution towards his wages, if Sane asks to leave.

I'm not suggesting we go for Bale all out, just think at around £20m for 2 seasons, we fill a homegrown void, can potentially buy a good foreign CB, work through any transfer ban easier, assess the market and have £80m from any potential Sane sale to go big on whomever we've identified as our primary target in a couple of years.

Definitely not a friendly against the Dippers and it is a trophy

I expect both Pep and Klopp will use their press conferences to downplay the significance of the game. Neither team will be at full strength. Neither manager will significantly adapt their pre season preparations to make sure they're fully match fit.

Bit difficult for Pep to downplay after spending a year telling anyone that'll listen the shield is a trophy.
