Write this one off, stoically. We're 1-0 down. The series isn't over, far from it. We've had Australia in difficulties, even in this match, although the result won't show it. First thing to do: Moeen Ali, who has been a great servant to England, is playing like a donkey, both with bat and ball, and has been for quite some time. We're carrying dead weight there. He must be dropped, forthwith.
Pray that Anderson will somehow get fit. We need him. As for Smith, the problem is not so much there, or not only. He's going to carry on batting brilliantly, there'll be no miracles, and he'll carry on getting fifties and hundreds, because he's the best in the world at present.
No, it's what the others are costing us, and especially the tail-enders. When a guy like Siddle is getting 44, and even Nathan Lyon is eking out 12; then in this innings Paine 34, Pattinson 47, Cummins 26 — that's really hurting us. Not least because it allows the big hitters to hang around.

No discipline is why we lost this test match! Say again first inning Root and stokes were set half a century then they just gave there wickets aways both or at least one if them should of went on and got a big ton.

Just hope Archer can do the business or we fucked.

You have them at 128/8 on the first day, score nearly 100 more than them in the first innings and are staring down the barrel of defeat on the last day is really poor.
We’re up against a once in a lifetime talent and lost our best bowler after 4 overs. There’s no way this would be the situation if Jimmy hadn’t done his calf.

That’s the difference between very good players and generational players like Smith.

Sorry but i am not having that.

Anderson has been a great but at 37 his time is near the end and to pick him off the back of a torn calf with no game to prove his fitness was a huge gamble that has simply not paid off.

Ali woefully out of form with both bat and ball, Denly never a test batsmen, Roy never a test batsmen currently, Roots captaincy at this level wanting and the usual soft underbelly that is the middle order when we do manage to score reasonably well off the top order has been there for all to see.

Burns ton aside and that first morning with the ball there is fuck all to take from this game other than some have not turned up and others are simply not good enough currently.

Dont even get me started on the umpires!

Anderson’s injury changed the whole complexity of the game. It looked ok at 120/8 but the danger was always going to be the second innings of bowling. And then Woakes was injured too! The batting performance was decent. We just ran out of legs and bodies, that’s the prime reason for losing outside of Smith.

The batting performance from a huge position of strength in the game was utter shite mate.

We collapsed yet again.

The game was lost as soon as Smith and Siddle put together that partnership. Anderson has clearly been a big loss but you’d still expect Woakes, Broad, Stokes and Moeen to dismiss Australia for south of 200 given they were 122/8.
