Does Shepherds Pie count as a pie? I was recently looking up sausage roll consumption per capita (as you do - 10g per person per week btw) and in the rough notes of the study it said that this figure includes Shepherds Pie and other "potato topped pies", which they classify as "meat pies".

This to me seems wrong and I am naturally extremely distressed by this news.

If I ask someone to get me a meat pie from the shop and they come back with a bit of shepherds pie or fish pie or something then I think they got the order but according to Pieologists in this study, they didnt.

Meat pies should only include things that are made of pastry. Anything else is a fraudulent meat pie and should be better characterised by another, less ambiguous name.
