Champions League 19/20

I used Bert Kassies website for those Pots last night, which in retrospect is slightly incorrect. If you use the principle that the team with the highest coefficient in each tie should qualify, then pots 3 and 4 change slightly.

Pot 1
Barcelona
Bayern
Juventus
City
PSG
Liverpool
Chelsea
Zenit

Pot 2

Real
Atletico
Dortmund
Napoli
Shakhtar
Spurs
Ajax*
Benfica

Pot 3

Lyon
Bayer Leverkusen
RB Salzburg
Olympiacos*
Club Brugge*
Valencia
Inter
Dinamo Zagreb*

Pot 4
Lokomotiv Moscow
Young Boys*
Genk
Galatasaray
RB Leipzig
Slavia Praha*
Atalanta
Lille

Asterisk's indicate teams that need to qualify.

Cracker that. Thanks.

I completed the draw.

Looking at the way the seeding, nationality and TV pairings affected the available groups, there's going to be some serious piss boiled among the sky 4 on 29th August.

Think there's something wrong with that website though, didn't see the rags or Celtic amongst the teams ...

I'd take that.

I think it would do us good to play Real in the group stages. I don't think a piss easy group is necessarily the best thing these days. Get a european heavyweight in there, beat them to top spot, have a couple of big games that dominates the coverage of that round of fixtures, get the team in that headspace of playing a huge game before the 1/4 final stage.

Having easy runs to the 1/4 finals didn't do us any favours in the past 2 seasons IMO.

I'd go for something like Real, Salzburg, Genk if I was picking it. One big clash, a couple of teams who shouldn't have much of a chance, and Belgium/Austria/Madrid are all short journeys
Perhaps you're right. I have a feeling the easier group stages have enhanced our domestic form in recent seasons though. For me, I'd choose the easiest available group. Our team are experienced and know the level of intensity a quarter final game includes and the ability to rotate our squad and offer game-time to fringe players would be more valuable than trying to maintain a high level of performance throughout the competition.
