We are the most hated team in London. Personally I love it. Woolwich and Chelsea even have a nice little love in when they play each other and sing anti-Spurs songs together. It's quite sweet really.
Don't confuse contempt with hate.

Yes, but Spurs are one of only two domestic sides who will come to your place and genuinely #believe they can win.

I wonder what the City team thinks, that spuds are faster, fitter, a better team, I think not. You know and I know who has the better team and the better players. If the spuds don't think they can win tomorrow they have no place in professional sport, but just like you and me they know who is the better team.

Can’t see anything other than a comfortable City win - and not just because City have the proven best team and squad in the league anyway. Also in their favour is that the game will be at the Etihad; that Spurs have some key injuries / suspensions; and that Spurs under Poch usually start the season slowly (in terms of performances, at least, if not results).

JPBB is right that Spurs will try to be positive and will try to believe that they can win (rather than merely, as most away teams do at the Etihad, hoping for a draw). But I don’t expect it to make too much difference to the result.

Have a feeling Cancelo and Otem will play with 3 at the back and Zinchenko, Walker missing out.
I could see them starting with a 3 5 2 formation but it would need Mendy fit for it to work. As much as I like Zinchenko, his ability to play as a wingback is nowhere near as good as Mendy. As a left back I prefer him to Mendy which is mad considering their known roles are the opposite to that

Definitely, 3 at the back takes some pressure off Mending, I mean Mendy.

Tough game on paper but we turn up and we win. Same applies for every fixture.

If you're playing with wingbacks you can just use Angelino, you don't need Mendy fit.

Maybe, not convinced by Angelino, would be fantastic if he could be a top player but I haven't seen anything to make me believe he will. I am more inclined to think he will be a League Cup player and has been brought back to bring up the homegrown/club trained quota

There is no homegrown quota, there's a foreign player quota, but if you're not going to use him, they might as well have a 22 man squad instead of 23 and save themselves about £15m in fee and wages.

Well it is feels like that but that was not the intention. It developed into a rather esoteric discussion about the mindset of top sportsman and Deli Alli in particular.

In short, the point I am making is that Spurs will come to your place believing they can win, believing they are as good as players as the City players and are as good as a team. They will believe they are fitter. They will believe that they are a lucky team, they will believe that the opposition think they are dirty team, and the opposition fear that they will cheat. And that will make the opposition uncomfortable. Whether that confidence and those beliefs are justified is, I accept, a matter for debate.

They will have a plan which will not be to sit deep, hope for the best, hit the ball long and get a flukey goal on the break, it will be that they will want to dominate physically, in possession and in territory. They will trust the system. And that will be how they win, In particular they might target Rodri and/or Fernandinho. Sissoko and Ndombele will feel that they are more physical and could overwhelm them.

Will it work? Who knows? We might still lose 5-0 again. But this time I think there is a change in mindset and a genuine belief we could win. And deserve to win.

And for the record - I acknowledge that last year you won lots of trophies and had lots more points than Spurs.
Good luck trying to target dinho lol,he will snap him in two

I didn't say he shouldn't be used, just that IMO is not at the level where he will play as a choice at LWB. It is better to have the squad as near to the 25 limit as possible and have players who can contribute through the season no matter how much that might be. As he is still young and with the best coaching set-up around he has the opportunity to develop for sure and I hope that happens
