A good read on where we are and the state of the two tribes of Britain at war with each other and both accusing the other of ‘coups’ and ‘subverting’ democracy. Personally I think he has got it spot on but it’s not necessarily comfortable reading for either side. It does reinforce my belief that this will end badly for us no matter how it goes and I don’t think we can stop it.

Because we cant just leave...we cant decide our fate as you are about to take us out of the EU, which the majority of NI dont want AND essentially cant/shouldnt happen as we have to decide for ourselves. The UK government agreed this in 1998.
I'm sure you respect the views of the other regions as well though?

So the Order says Parliament will be prorogued 9th Sept at the earliest or 14th at the latest. Who chooses that?

Under the Fixed Term Parliaments Act there could be a vote of no confidence before prorogation and the 14 days limit to get a vote of confidence would fall during prorogation.

I can't see anything in the Act to say that the time limit would not apply during prorogation so on the face of it, if Parliament can't pass a vote of confidence because it's prorogued, there would then have to be a general election.

M'learned friends may know different ...

It's going to erupt either way by the sounds of it.

The last few years have been of relative calm. The current situation is not helped with the stalemate at Stormont but that can be remedied.

The way Ireland and Northern Ireland are being used as pawns in the Brexit discussions is deeply unsavoury.

I'm not agitated at all. I am one of those people that make money when the £ and € tank.

Not losing job is NOT a benefit of leaving. At this stage, what are your top 5 measurable reasons for leaving? I will go back to what Cabinet Ministers have said, Farms will close due to tariff increase and business will close, albeit with a heavy heart, but close nonetheless. Everything we buy(and we will need to import as we won't have anything left here) will be more expensive due to the low £

But let's say we do leave with no-deal. Then what? Withhold £32billion(1% of national expenditure) on the strength of that will make the EU talk trade with us. It won't, nor will it look good for the UK to withhold agreed debts

Top 5 measurable benefits. I'll start off:
1) less immigrants, from the EU at least. We will still need people to do the jobs and Indians work for less than Germans so there is a potential for wage supression. That will have the bosses laughing though and I know you like a giggle.....
2) We will finally be rid of Scotland
3) Potentially rid of Northern Ireland
4) We will be able to fish more, apparently, but won't have anyone to sell to so not sure if that one counts
5) Passports will be blue. Not City blue, but close enough

Rule Britannia and all that
1) Actually we'll have more immigrants, except now it'll be a level playing field and European Migrants will be subject to the same terms as anyone else in the world. Migration based on skills, not nationality.
2) That doesn't make sense to the Scottish people living in Scotland who voted leave now does it. It's their right to decide if they want to stay or leave the UK, this isn't the days of Empire. But let's not forget the Scottish Referendum cause came about years before the EU referendum was even announced.
3) Again, same as above. Whatever they choose, they choose, and you again tend to ignore those in NI who voted to leave the EU.
4) A victory for those affected by the CFP and work/live/depend upon the British fishing industry. Because we all know how much you care about them.
5) Passports can be any colour you wish. What they won't have are the words "European Union" emblazened on the top, like we're owned by them. You can also start taking the flag off public buildings as well, whilst you're at it.

Yes it is.

Blame Parliament.

Plenty of faux outrage from those plotting a coup in the first instance.

At least we now get to see Bercunt and the rest show their true colours in public.

Keep it up Boris. King or be killed.

Amonst other things, he's not a king and cannot be no matter how much he pretends. He's a PM with a majority of 1 i.e himself

My post wasn't entirely serious. But here's another scaremonger:

Fascinating and simply untenable in the long run as the U.K. Govt will know if not admit.

So, they’re saying WTO and no tariffs? So, as they can’t give preferential rates, that’ll be no tariffs to any other country in the world, including all the EU members.

Not much incentive for anyone signing a trade deal with us in that case as we don’t seem to have much to offer (except for visas of course), which probably wasn’t what every leaver voted for..

I am still at a loss as to how we take back control of our borders if we don't have one? How do we stop all these undesirables entering our country? Form an orderly queue here please - not likely I can just walk across.
