Javed on the Today prog at 8.10 after his SPAD was escorted out of no. 10. Fireworks or will he be crawling? (Hypothetical question...)

English exceptionalism is alive and well Mr Duck. We have long had an attitude of do what we say not what we do, an arrogance based on the fact we happened to have a forest of Oak Trees that made good ships.

For a small island off the North Western coast of a continent we sure have a big mouth and incredibly well established sense of superiority. Did you know we won the World Cup once upon a time and invented condescension.

Tbf I get a bit pissed off with our present bunch of coronel blimps waffling on about the second world war.

None of them ever mentions waterloo or agincourt anymore, disrepsectfull fuckers ;-)

What a ludicrous argument, for a start, you don't appear to understand the contribution made by ex pats,
thousands of businesses in Spain, and an awful lot of people, are employed because of it, these people don't claim
benefits, and have been there donkey's years. We've had reciprocal health agreements with Spain prior to the EU,
making wild assumptions about future governments turning on settlers makes no sense, for them, or their citizens here.
Using this logic, Brits in Germany must be shitting themselves another Hitler may come along.
Scaremongering bollox like this didn't work last time it was attempted, it won't now.

I take it you feel the same about the Spanish living in the UK then? The ones that work in our NHS, run restaurants, teach our kids etc?

Given that was the basis of our arguments last night the answer is a big fat YES!

Our Blimps love a wallow in nostalgia, when times were hard, we stood alone and ate our socks to survive. Rule Britannia and all that.

Did you know that there is no great poem that has been written about a British win in Battle, they are all about defeats. We love a good hiding, it brings our natural stoicism out and we can be miserable and discuss the rain.

Yes, no problem with anyone, Spanish or otherwise, if they're here and contributing. These Spaniards, like our Brits
use the NHS the same as we use theirs, it's called reciprocation.
We even had it when Spain was all fascisty, so I would imagine that even if some demon conjures up the reincarnation
of Franco, a broken ankle will probably get seen to in Benidorm.

Speaking of Spain, being tough on sepperatist factions among Catalunians and basque's seems to have worked aswell as to get authoritarian leaders activated. I just wonder, if Bojo is so keen to exploit legallity and "British political convention" beyond the spirit of it by proroguing parliament at this moment, then what would his legalist inspired answer be if the Scots were trying to take steps to leave the Union?

I doubt the EU is going to give in much NOW and under the current circumstances, the UK is in a far worse position with the clock ticking eitherway besides many other factors imho. My impression is that the EU is not unwilling to offer Bojo a "symbolic yet meaningless gesture that allows to save some face" and thats about it because opportune enough. The problem essentially for Bojo is that his negotiation position hasn't improved with a threat of no deal, he basicly has no extra leverage whatsoever and so more likely he's out with a no deal anyway and besides he must also plan for that potential no deal eventuallity anyway which goverment seems to be doing to some reported degree.
He's complaining now that opposition to a ruinous No Deal is undermining his negotiating position of threatening No Deal to get a good deal. Welcome to May'sworld.

And Corbyn and Labour.

They didn't have to vote for the EU ref, they didn't have to vote for the question we got asked and they didn't have to ever promise to respect the result.

They did all three.

Great post on here from kazzydeyna the other day in which he very eloquently says that what pisses him off the most is the way his own Labour party supporters, those on the left that claim to be like him have tried to make this a Tory thing.

Its wrong and it does your arguments literally no favour.

You keep saying it Ric, you keep refusing to see how the country actually voted and the sheer support for brexit from many traditional Labour voters and no, we are all not right wing extremist Tories no matter how many times you get told you are on here ;-)
It's undoubtedly right wing extremist Tories who've caused it all. Others didn't need to go along with it but that is why we're here.

Yet supported by people form all walks of life and political persuasions.

Its why constantly trying to make it fit into a convenient box hasn't and never will work.

Are expats not bothered? Really?

Our history , if we go back beyond the edwardian and victorian (and most georgian) which these dick seem to have an afinity with then the achievements of a tiny Island nation to do what it did in building itself up into the largest global empire in known history is no meam feat.

Yet like Roman, Umayyad, assan spanish, Qing french, rusian and mongolian empires once you fall then you have to accept you are just tthat tiny country again and get over it, I get that people will remenice and long for it back for a decade maybe, but 94 fucking years after ffs is ridiculous

Good grief. To go through with Brexit you have to be risk happy ?

It’s a pretty basic concept but since you can’t even grasp the small but often used word *as* It seems I can put you in the I’m a remainer no fair category.

As I am a nice bloke though and you can’t leave the house I will drop some grub off if you like.
