The unelected PM Dominic Cummings has told Tory MP's they wont be able to stand as MP's at the next GE if they support any No Deal stopping legislation according to a jurno that writes for The ***.

RIP Democracy.
Hello some party discipline

What a ludicrous argument, for a start, you don't appear to understand the contribution made by ex pats,
thousands of businesses in Spain, and an awful lot of people, are employed because of it, these people don't claim
benefits, and have been there donkey's years. We've had reciprocal health agreements with Spain prior to the EU,
making wild assumptions about future governments turning on settlers makes no sense, for them, or their citizens here.
Using this logic, Brits in Germany must be shitting themselves another Hitler may come along.
Scaremongering bollox like this didn't work last time it was attempted, it won't now.

They are immigrants. And like all immigrants they are likely to be net contributors to the public purse. And like all immigrants they have the potential to be targets for those with a view to attaining political power.

Immigrants in the U.K. come here, work hard and are essential for many sectors of the economy. They are also the target for those of a populist mind set and for large sections of the British media. For EU immigrants removing their legal right to stay has caused problems exacerbated by the Home Offices ‘hostile environment’ culture and lack of political direction. Even some of the Brexit supporting press has sounded the alarm on the number of rejected applicants.

To deny what is happening right in front of you and to deny that this could ever happen to U.K. citizens elsewhere is naïve.

Much maligned - at least he knew which side he was on

Hmmmmm

Why on earth would Brits in Spain be thinking that way?

I can understand having genuine concerns over change - but why would they think that could be the result?

I spend quite a bit of time in Cyprus - people are not expressing those concerns there and have in the main taken the actions offered by the Cypriot authorities to ensure they are secure.

Also, a point that seems strangely missed...….

There are about 1.3m Brits living across the EU

There are approaching 4m EU citizens living in the UK

Just why would the EU do detrimental things to the UK citizens - especially as they are generally all adding benefit to the countries they live in

Suspect Project Fear is alive and well and being mobilised

The numbers must be tight. Is Cummings PM now and I missed the announcement? Tsk these unelected advisors running our country.

‘Dominic Cummings has notified Conservative MPs that if they vote for the extension legislation next week, they will be "automatically deselected" before the next election via Conservative Central Office "even if their local organisations stand by them".’

I thought the Republic had categorically ruled out border posts? Fake news?

Everyone has. But lapsing international agreements that guarantee the absence of something makes their return inevitable.

Eventually we will recognise the value of international agreements which underpin the smooth functioning of the U.K. and help manage our relations with other countries; just as we will recognise the value of international legal rights and protections that help protect you from the vagaries, and sometimes prejudices, of national immigration law but that is a few years away. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way.

That’s not the way it works.
His power comes from the Prime Minister who indeed is elected.

It’s quite likely that some of customs controls will have to be introduced eventually. I just don’t see the Republic anticipating that possibility now.
