Archer has been disappointing. I know the pitch isn’t as quick as expected but he’s been rather toothless for the most part.

Despite being a good batting track, I never trust England to score more than 300. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we get within 100 runs of Australia’s first innings total.

It’s time for one (or two) of Roy, Bairstow and Buttler to score a century.

Starc can leak runs but he will be a serious threat if there’s any reverse swing.

Stokes with his heroics last test match and we come back to this shower of shite and the clueless Root we going to have to bat for around 220 overs to save the game. This group of cricketers apart from Broad and Stokes are a fcuking Sham.

Root needs to step down as captain to save his england career and his batting! One thing for certain he aint a captain!!

I wouldn't go betting on that now. They could (probably will) well be over 450 tonight. Bat for an hour in the morning, 500+ lead. Skittle us out for 150-175. Make us follow on. If we bat well, we might get a lead of 150 by the time lunch on saturday comes around. Could well be over by stumps (weather permitting) on saturday evening.

Very disappointing this but I'm still looking forward to tomorrow and hoping for good weather. I've been very lucky with the days I've attended Ashes matches over the years - was there in 2013 on the day Pietersen scored his last test century at OT, and again 2 days later when we retained the Ashes, at Chester-Le-Street on the day when we won the series the following test, and at Trent Bridge on the day we won the series in 2015 so it's probably time I was present when we're up against it. Hopefully we turn in a decent backs-to-the-wall batting performance tomorrow
