Perhaps he's a Porto fan, and took umbrage about us calling Hulk "not incredible" when we played them.
Actually he is a fanatical Porto fan who hates their rival clubs in Lisbon, Sporting and Benfica. It has been reported that his original motivation for the hacking was to target the Lisbon clubs who he perceived to be corrupt He was apparently caught in a sting operation trying to extort money from agents connected to Sporting Lisbon. His defence is that he is a whistleblower trying to expose corruption in Portugese football. However he appears to have got a bit carried away.

He sounds like a really impartial bloke who was just simply doing it for the greater good. Didn’t he say that he didn’t want to go back to Portugal as he’d been getting death threats from Benfica fans?

He was caught bang to rights on tape in a sting operation by undercover police as he demanded money from Portugese officials in exhange for not leaking their data to the media. He had huge sums of money in Swiss bank accounts. He has been accused of blackmailing organisations and wealthy individuals across the world and that's why he has been charged with extortion. I think it is far-fetched to suggest he is a whisteblower. The reason he is being held in prison is that Pinto has now been accused of hacking into the office of the Portugese Attorney General whose team is currently investigating him. City's emails are a tiny fraction of this entire saga.

Didn't he also steal a big wedge from Deutsche bank?

It said in the Portugese press that Pinto hacked into a Deutsche Bank account in the Cayman Islands in 2013 and took 310,000 Euros. It belonged to a client of the bank. But Pinto was never charged after he returned the money. I wonder if he was blackmailing the person he hacked. He must have had some dirt on them for no charges to be brought. I don't fancy UEFA's chances of building a strong case against City if they are just basing it on a few hacked emails from Pinto.

Cheers mate, thought I'd heard it mentioned somewhere but didn't Know the story.

As you say, he appears to be anything but a whistleblower.

Makes me laugh all these opposition fans wanking themselves into a frenzy over the the possibility of City getting a CL ban. The thick mouth-breathing ****s don’t seem to realise that there could well be shit on their clubs too.

I reckon its taking so long because its probably taking Infantino a while to count through all the duffel bags of cash we dropped off, what you reckon liverpool fans?

Always remember with Pinto
He's openly admitted that the largest part of Footy Leaks is based on information handed to him by other parties and he has no knowledge of how these were obtained.

So potentially 60% of the database is of unknown origin, be that hacked, stolen or created from scratch

The Caledonia bank, not a Deutsche bank account and allegedly he only returned some of it as the client who lost the money claimed that they had paid him a lower sum for an undisclosed transaction (blackmail?). The Caledonia bank itself no longer exists as it was found to be corrupt and liquidated.

So it could be that some of our rivals have been throwing some shit in the pot - could be interesting in any trial. Can’t help but think our dear friends Fenway Sports will be in the thick of this.

Given the amount of leaks (millions we’re led to believe) then some of them must relate to other clubs, presumably including the cartel clubs, leaving uefa with the dilemma of trying to use leaks as sufficient evidence to punish us , while trying to ignore the ones referring to others.
If they attempt to punish us based on this, then they will set themselves a precedent for other investigations into others, using evidence supplied by the same source.
If you piss into the wind.....

So many unknowns in all this. I doubt whether anyone, possibly other than Pinto, will admit to having seen the entirety of the leaks and they would never, ever be made available to third parties officially, so I think we'll never have the dirt on other clubs.

Which leaves the limited leaks that Pinto made available to DS as the only matters which are in the public domain. I expect that UEFA will argue those (relatively) few documents relating to City were sufficient to justify an enquiry. We can argue til we're blue in the face that it's unfair as there must have been other stuff on other clubs but I'm not sure that argument would get us very far in the absence of the stolen material.

So it will come down to, firstly, whether due process has been followed by UEFA and, secondly, whether we could provide sufficient evidence to show that those emails were taken out of context and we didn't mislead investigators. I'm confident on the former but not so much on the latter but, like everyone else, I'm guessing.

Well there is one obvious source for the leaks attacking City from the heart of the UEFA investigations committee and the smear campaign we have seen in the UK media and I think Khaldoon knows exactly who this is. This is another good reason for UEFA to avoid taking action against City. The UEFA officials have too much to lose personally in any ongoing court battle.
