Who would have thought that Cameron would release a book at a time of national crisis

Call me a cynical **** if you want, but his timing is impeccable, knowing he will get maximum exposure in order to flog a few books to the misled.

What a twat.

To be fair to him - not that I want to be - he has probably put back the launch several times but the Govt's failure to get on with Brexit has probably meant he though " fuck it and fuck them I am doing it " - I mean at this rate it could be 2021 before he thought the coast was clear.

On the contrary I’ve been proven correct.

Don’t pretend you knew anything in 2016.
There it is, in a nutshell. The ultimate Remainer riposte: “you knew/know nothing”. Hate to break it to you, but I’ve always made it my business to read, at length, and in depth, the issues around which I will vote. And that included the referendum. You should try it yourself. Then you might not come across as such a condescending tool.

If you've read so assiduously around the subject, do you happen to know if Brexit means Brexit or not?

TIA.

I think you have a bit of trouble understanding context. I’m sure you have since learned about the EU, as I have greatly compared to then.

My point is that we didn’t, me you, the bloke down the road, the postman, whoever, we didn’t know enough about the EU as it wasn’t an issue for 99.9% of people back then.

I’m not condescending you, I’m saying we were all short of knowledge and it was a farce we were asked to vote on such a huge issue.

The mail/telegraph/sun/express lied to you hence all that "in depth,at length ( 2seconds) to read a banner was a waste of your invaluable time. Dont fret plenty of others fell for the lies, as this thread highlights perpetually .

Quite a few assumptions about what people have/haven't read there? I'm personally wouldn't describe you as a condescending tool for this, but rather just I'll informed. The idea that all brexit arguments are based upon tabloid headlines is just intellectually lazy.

We could do all this whilst still in the EU. The basis on which we accept non-EU immigrants is our business and ours alone. I also fail to understand how removing our own rights to freedom of movement within Europe helps the cause for a liberal immigration policy in the U.K. I would also point out you use the phrase ‘based on need and circumstance’ which in effect treats all immigrants as economic units rather than as people. Finally the EU’s FoM isn’t racist. A black EU citizen has the right to work and settle in 28 European countries. A white American does not. FoM is based on nationality not colour just as FoM within the four nations of the U.K. is based on nationality not colour.

FoM is liberation of ordinary people from the State. A liberation we had and which Leave voters casually tossed in the bin.

It's just a total coincidence that every major EU nation is predominantly Caucasian. It's just a total coincidence that the vast swathes of people drowning in the Mediterranean trying to get to Europe illegally because the legal route is all but closed off to them are predominantly dark skinned. Just coincidences . Nothing to see here. We're not racist. We're just looking after our own. Polish plumbers , come on in son, make yourself at home, don't worry if you haven't got a job lined up, we'll look after you. Black doctor from Africa? You can come in after you've jumped through a few of our hoops .

It’s deeply concerning that you associate nationality with skin colour.

I have always made it my business to understand different political positions on as much as possible, I am fairly well read and fairly well educated yet I still found the whole Brexit debate extremely confusing, economically illiterate, socially unfathomable, lacking in critical thought, overwrought with propaganda, occasionally amusing, drowned in metaphor, saturated anecdotally and a lot of it unnecessarily superfluous to my needs.

If you have politicians sitting in the House of Commons who don't even understand the importance of Dover to trade then how the fucking hell are the average lads and ladies in the street supposed to grasp the full enormity of the debate. Because I know I didn't, I still don't three years on and I have learnt fuck loads since the referendum. I don't believe many on either side of the debate fully grasped the details and I don't think anyone on either side ever imagined the complexity of the issues that were the subject of the debate.

In answer to your ultimate Remainer allegation, I am certain that your riposte shows your are either a genius with a Doctorate in EU studies or you are kidding yourself and I don't mean that as an insult because even the supposedly brightest minds that represent us have continually shown a failure to understand the complexity of the issues themselves, hence the stalemate that exists.

Absolutely what my point was.

I wasn’t claiming remainers knew anymore in 2016. The whole thing was a clusterfuck of untruths and confusion.

I must be some sort of prophet then because I believed way back the whole thing would be a complete mess, why would anyone trust the shambles that was/is our government to safely negotiate a deal that was better or at least on parity with the EU?

Just seemed like common sense to me

You wait ages for a case to be thrown out for lack of evidence then two come along at once...
Evidence of what? That what Johnson has done is cynical, unjustified and dishonest but not illegal?
What if the queen opens Parliament and before she goes home Johnson advises her to prorogue it again?

Apropos of nothing, the Wikipedia entry about Hulk seems fairly apt in the circumstances:
when subjected to emotional stress, at or against his will, often leads to destructive rampages and conflicts
Remind you of anyone?
