Gundogan as an attacking midfielder

Foden over him any day of the week. Time for the lad to have a run of games now. He doesn’t lack effort and creates way more than Gundo.

Yesterday was a piss poor team effort but as this is a thread about Gundogan then I would say his 'performance' was pitiful. He went back into hiding in plain sight mode, something he became an expert at after his injuries. This involves making sure he isn't available to receive the ball, ensuring that he isn't in the vicinity of an opposing player who needs to be dispossessed & generally making no effort whatsoever. If he somehow receives the ball after all this he will look to pass it backwards to a central defender as quickly as possible.

Add to the above the obvious fact he doesnt even look fit and you have a perfect storm of shiteness.
I have said exactly the same thing. He does not go looking for the ball , he hides from it. Watch how many times he looks away if an opponent is within 5 yards of him and a team mate is looking to pass it to him.

How long was his extension?

Won't be able to bring in a better player in the summer as can't shift him now.

Stats don’t reflect a player mate. With that you’d get a well paid job in the states doing american football analysis, love a stat do that lot.
They do when it’s across many stats and consistently high.

And they’re not just statistics, they’re tactics. Pep works on every decision he makes based on all of these things, tactically.

Plus we all saw with our own eyes; Gundo was our best player in the second half of last season and he was incredible against Spurs at home in the CL - nobody played a game at that level in any other game for us last season.
