Most hated film genres

Don't think there is one genre that hasn't got a film to represent it that I have enjoyed, so don't hate any. I suppose out and out romances are my least favourite though.

Can't stand superhero movies. I watched the first spiderman with Toby Maguire. It was ok and I was planning on seeing the next one.

But when I turned around there were a million and one hero movies to choose from, and the spiderman films themselves had been rebooted at least once. Avengers, Ant Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Turd Boy and Queef Queen. Supposedly they're all connected too, spin offs, backstories, blah blah blah. Only a matter of time before they decide to reboot superman and batman yet again.

Not interested, go and find an original idea Hollywood.

Also, anything where some middle aged woman 'goes on an epic adventure of self discovery'. Similar feeling to when you realise that chicken you had at lunch should have been eaten a week ago...

We are bombarded with all manner of films now via cinema, TV and internet outlets. Yet I find so few are of any interest to me. I hate the following:

Romantic comedies. Silly, boring, gooey and predictable (we know they'll end with the pair getting it together).

Superhero films (so-called). I grew out of them when I stopped reading comics when I was about thirteen.

Anything animated - usually fairy tales or such. Cartoons are basically for kiddies.

Posy French films. Because.... they're posy, and they're French. Enough said.

There's always been film dross but by heavens there's some dross now.

Let's have films for grown-ups.

I have two objections to these kind of films - I hardly class them as 'romantic' and I have yet to find any of them funny.

Agree. Some of the marvel stuff is like just watching a demo on a computer game. Awful

Superhero films have been battered to death, though i did enjoy The Boys recently, some real WTF moments...

Check out the Ealing Studios comedies if you want a proper laugh. The Ladykillers is a cracking film!

The laugh-out-loud one someone asked for has got to be Airplane.

The other type I hate but forgot to mention is those about US teenage girls in high school, and all that silly "being popular" and "prom queen" crap.

Hmmmmm, young teen girl movies you say...?

@Big Swifty

Romantic comedies. Silly, boring, gooey and predictable (we know they'll end with the pair getting it together).

But they're something you can watch with your spouse for a pleasant evening together and somewhat makes up for the fact that you spent a weekend watching football.

Couldn't agree more. The Antman one was okay, sort of, maybe.

Well, South Park would disagree with you, as would the Simpsons, and maybe Family Guy and once in awhile American Dad. But the movie versions are never as good as the best of the TV shows.

I love Amelie; other than that, can't think of one that sticks in my head.

Let me add -- films that are musicals or based on musicals. No one breaks into fucking song at the drop of a hat, especially if the song is about a situation that is currently happening plot-wise. Cannot think of a single musical movie I can abide.
