Newsnight echo chamber for our continental friends and partners:
BoJo's "Singapore on Thames"
"he's Winston Churchill - he needs an enemy and it's the EU"
"their (UK) objective is to destroy our single market"
I watched and thought whoever the Tory minister was got plenty of leeway to basically deny that what Johnson says in public and what was actually presented in their paper, were at odds with each other.
You probably don’t get BBC NI over there but I watched The View afterwards and found it quite disturbing TBH.
There was an interview with Geoffrey Donaldson and quite frankly it beggars belief the treachery of what has been schemed up between Johnson and the DUP.
Basically every other body, political, including the UUP, business, agriculture and logistical think this proposal is worse for them than a no deal, and his answer is that they’re entitled to their opinion.
It was put to him that the consent they talk about having enshrined is them having a veto in the Assembly but none of the other parties have that veto now as the Assembly isn’t up and running.
And this treachery pretty much insures that it won’t be anytime soon.
The PSNI say they will not man border patrols if customs check points are introduced.
A Queens University Expert agreeing that this is a dangerous route to take and the panel pretty much agreeing that this is a real danger to the GFA.
At this stage I’d take no deal and see the breakup of the UK as an option.
NI have their referendum in conjunction with a Scottish one and let England and Wales get on with it.
