We have two problems this season. The first are injuries to CBs which have seriously hurt us. But we have another problem as well. We have several aging players whose legs are not quite up to the task of playing highly dynamic football and can't press efficiently. This might be the season when the legends step down and make way to Rodri, Foden, Jesus, Cancelo, Bernardo....

Liverpool have only one player over 30 y.o. and he is running more than the other players. We have several players over 30 and they are already over the hill physically wise.

Hope and believe we can still win the title but Laporte's injury has hit us very badly. Hope we can win the CL for the legends. Would be the best way for them to leave the club

Not really. But it's not always possible to perform miracles and win the title without key players being available. We were winning the games with Norwich and Wolves with Eric and Kevin in the team. We've been seriously unlucky with injuries and even Pep can't always find a winning formula when we miss some top players, play a 34 y.o. midfielder at CB and the other CB is playing like a clown.

Gabby can be world class. But he won't become world class on the bench, he needs to play regularly. He is 6 years younger than Firmino and has scored more goals for Brazil.

Bernardo was world class in midfield last season. Foden can become world class. Rodri is on the way of becoming world class.

Not sure what's your point. We have enough talent in the team. 3-4 new signings and we are fine. Aguero might still be available as a squad player next season. If we keep Sane, we won't need new attackers. Some of the players loaned out might become a squad player. It's not like Liverpool's squad players are top players. And they're doing quite well.

With the obvious exception of centre back, our squad depth is fine. But playing Merlin & Gundogan is asking for trouble, especially as Fernandinho isn’t currently operating in midfield.

I would take the transitional season excuse if we actually transitioning. That would mean playing the younger players to get them up to speed for a title assault next season. As it is, we will amble on with the slower older players and we’ll buy replacements in the summer because the young lads won’t be ready cos they had no game time.

Maybe Chelsea is having a transitional season giving lot of playing time to the likes who has no top football experience yet but could be part of their future.
We dont do anything like that.
