Ahhh that question again.

Think I've answered this more times than I've had....well you know the rest.

Took no notice of either campaign to be honest and went with a long time held view that the EU is an undemocratic club, ran for the benefit of the Germans and French primarily with smaller nations literally told to do as they are told or the money stops and one with an ever increasing federalist dream that started with the Euro and will end only when nation states are no longer and the United states of Europe has been created.

I dont believe it has a long term future, i dont believe in it politically and i dont want to be a part of it.

Thats why I voted to leave.

Those were my sentiments as well leading up to the vote and my hope was that by the UK demonstrating in the referendum how dissatisfied they were, the EU would sit down and reconsider their direction of travel for fear of other nations following the UK. Unfortunately the handling of this departure has been handled with such biblical levels of incompetence from both parliament and the executive, that all they have done is given the biggest endorsement for reasons to stay in the EU for the existing member states...

Staying in the EU is preferable to a no deal in my opinion as real people's lively hoods and standards of living will be negatively impacted. I see this everyday just in my own job with the amount of clients scrambling for an exit route, although funnily enough most of the hedge fund managers I know are fingers crossed for a no deal - they will absolutely own the situation as they did after the financial crisis.

Varadkar, Tusk and Barnier are not laughing anymore ;-)
None of them have moved an inch in the negotiations. Yet it is the UK that is unreasonable lol. You could say its a great negotiating tactic. Real shame May and the remainers in parliment so hampered the UKs negotiating position. Clueless or contrived either way it is deceitful to the electorate.

I think they are moving now mate.

Right to the wire this will go.

My impression reading from Belgian newspapers is that there simply isn't any time anymore to make a deal with Bojo, hence if British parliament can bring that extension request by tomorrow perhaps thats that, no reason to wait until the 30th i guess?

And that makes you think a deal is incoming?

OK.

BTW are you going to offer odds, again?

;-)

Is this a Clarkie? Surely it must be.
Nearly. This was a more of a "Georgie".

Interesting Scottish Select Committee on fisheries on iplayer now going bananas over Johnsons plan as it means Trawlers on the West Coast of Scotland selling fish into the Eu would be subject to Tariffs whilst the Trawlers on the East coast of (Northern) Ireland will not... whilst both fishing in the same waters

680 permits applied for .... 48 issued.

Not allowed to fish in Eu waters (Southern North Sea) will means many will go out of business.

Not enough people to certify the health of the catch

We're negotiating access to fisheries so we can catch fish but not access to markets ... so the fish that are caught have nowhere to be sold

what a mess.........
That stinks.

Johnson needs to let Varadka know whats at stake tomorrow. Ie a no deal means no settlement. No money and UK corporation tax reduced to less than the ROI. Take the deal offered or risk a crippled economy Leo.

Its harsh but correct.

Varadkar is a smart politician and knew this day was coming, as did the EU.

Should have binned May off right at the start.

What the fuck have Ireland done to deserve that sort of rudeness and disrespect?

Calling Varadkar smart is disrespectful?

He is PM of a country that relies on the UK for the bulk of its trade and the UK for transport to and from the EU.

No deal kills them.

Like it or not the reality needed to be hit home by a PM and government worth its salt and basically doing its job which is to protect our best interests.

Politics that is all.

That's not going to work though. ROI only benefits from companies locating their headquarters in Dublin because one of the four freedoms of the EU is the freedom of movement of capital. To take advantage of that you have to be in the EU.

The fact you think that a dick waving approach is the correct way to deal with our closest friends and neighbours. Fucking shameful way to deal with the Republic. This country's standing is diminishing by the day because of attitudes like that.

Tough choice for him to be honest. Take the political flack for appearing to sell the ROI down the river at this point, or take the political flack for trashing their economy later on if he doesn't accept the deal now.

Most spineless politicians fail to grasp the nettle and take the expedient option. I hope he is the exception.

Yet dick waving, leaks and unsavoury language towards us is fine?

I look forward to my post saying he is a smart politician becoming this weeks "humbug" scandal.
