Extinction Rebellion

Watching telly this morning was a laugh, some crackpot was doing the Monty Python Ministry of silly walks around a spiral of twigs.
If he thinks that act is going to get him on Strictly come Dancing he needs more lessons.
Honestly, these fruitcakes are round the fucking twist.

Saw that whilst enjoying a bacon butty.

Fucking delicious it was as well.

Probably not the most eloquent of guests to have on the show she is to all purposes one of those hypocrites who doesn't even understand the message that she's banging on about. The interview however did open up a few questions that answers to could help the average Joe and Jane.
Are individual carbon footprints very important to get under control?
Jets, cars and all other forms of transport that pollute, should they be banned?

I see she is a lab councillor by day which isn't a crime but does tend to make me think that it is nothing but politically driven.

Is it right for a councillor to be asking people to break the law and be arrested?

Just seen the Jonathan Pie video on this topic so decided to check out BMs take.

To my surprise it seems even more reactionary than the Brexit thread.

Some poor totally unprepared “spokesperson” for Extinction Rebellion just got eviscerated by Andrew Neil on BBC.

load of wimmin whipping their tits out to feed their babies live on the bbc this morning in westminster failing to realise that over population of the planet is the biggest problem we face, i theyre really that worried about the planet stop banging kids out, one said she had stopped flying and on her last trip took the train to geneva, you know, the one that runs on fresh air

Not in this country lamebrain.

I think calling it eviscerated is being kind to her. She was absolutely annihilated.

Just some tidbits her and her middle class friends espouse:

And end to all aviation in six years. (In order to achieve a planned reduction in global temperatures of 0.03%)
An end to all use of gas in six years (so good luck trying to eat cooked food)
Consfication of motor vehicles in six years.

These people with their smug, liberal, middle class view of the world make my blood boil.

Why are they not protesting outside the chinese embassy? China opens one coal power station every week. Every week.

Why are they attacking normal families? One of their less strident policies is to "allow" families to take ONE flight every FIVE YEARS.

If taxes are the answer why don't they propose a carbon tax based on ability to pay. Something like 1% of earnings over 30k, rising as earnings rise to end up with those earning 6 or 7 figure wages paying 5 or 6%? With money raised going into carbon reduction schemes or something.

Why is their only answer to make those with the least pay the most?

It's not about climate, its about control. Control, and putting the working classes back in their box. How dare those scruffy northern twats aspire to own a car and have a week away every year or two. They spoil our cruises and our time in Monaco with their tattoos and their regional accents. Lets make it so expensive they will go back to a week in blackpool on the charabanc.

Liars and hypocrites. Every one of them.

.

A simple but effective proposal.

I would also like to see them campaigning for a Green Investment Bank, a proactive rather reactive measure.

I support their right to protest, I am happy they have raised awareness of the issues, but I do agree with your synopsis.

Don't get me wrong, I too support ANYBODY'S right to protest. I think legitimate protest is something any country can be proud of. I just get unbelievably frustrated at people telling other people what to think AND proposing ideas that will if not ruin, at least radically change, other peoples quality of life whilst leaving their own largely unmolested.
