Must be why the words of Merkel and Macron are constantly used rather than those of Iohannis and Ratas.
It's called the real world.

You can put your 'Iceland to the Russian Border Free Trade Zone' t shirt on instead.Until my "Don't blame me I was a Remainer" t shirt wears out. Or the pound is back to $2.80, or €1.66 (from memory I think that was the exchange rate when the Euro was created).
What? Surely not. A passport to visit another part of the UK?With this new 'deal' one assumes that there must be border checks on all goods and people going to and from NI on the mainland?

Yep - there has been some proper ill-informed stuff posted on here about negotiations - from people that clearly have no real-life experience.None of them have moved an inch in the negotiations. Yet it is the UK that is unreasonable lol. You could say its a great negotiating tactic. Real shame May and the remainers in parliment so hampered the yep - there has been some proper UKs negotiating position. Clueless or contrived either way it is deceitful to the electorate.

But that means a GE with no deal not ruled out so Labour may not play. More importantly, if there really is a prospect of a deal that would get through this parliament, why would anyone want a GE that might well disrupt that prospect? Johnson can't say "let's get it done" then ask for a GE that might stop it getting done.IMO Johnson is simply playing for time now.
He will keep the talks going and then sign an extension letter on the basis that there's not enough time left to finalise the deal. That gets him out of his 'do or die' pledge as it's just a matter of 'a few weeks now' to wrap it up.
That will then allow him to go into a GE still keeping his options open and still keeping all sides of his party on board.
Obviously he will hope to win that election with a good majority and then he can go for either no deal or transition phase then Canada deal/ NI hive off ( he won't be bothered about the DUP now). I suspect he would prefer the latter option as he won't have the stomach or be prepared to put in the hard work for a country in no deal chaos mode.
So basically I expect to se him wind down the clock by keeping open the possibility that a deal is just round the corner and used this as his excuse to extend.
It is the EU's standard way of workingI think they are moving now mate.
Right to the wire this will go.
Gove borrowed it earlier in the year but he soon lost it.You can put your 'Iceland to the Russian Border Free Trade Zone' t shirt on instead.
And bang goes any sweet and light on the thread this morning.Yep - there has been some proper ill-informed stuff posted on here about negotiations - from people that clearly have no real-life experience.
And of course their support for the surrender act shows that to be true
I am many pages behind - but as I catch up I am hoping to find a lot of posts that reflect the eating of humble pie and (at last) recognition of the truth that:
"We will not see movement from the EU unless and until they are faced with the prospect of a viable No-Deal option and the political will to use it"
If only the sycophants had not undermined the UK's negotiating position for 3 years
But he will on the basis he needs a mandate to get it through Parliament ( like Mavis did). But that means a GE with no deal not ruled out so Labour may not play. Not really. He's not even told the cabinet yet.Is there any news on the specifics of what has happened?
We'll see who's moved when the ERG see see the small print. It is the EU's standard way of working
They have used their sycophants to date to avoid having to make any movement and it will only be when/if that fails will they make the movement
And bang goes any sweet and light on the thread this morning.
That is what shocks me on here - has Varadkar not been dick-waving - and enjoying himself very much in the public glare of doing it - for 3 years?Yet dick waving, leaks and unsavoury language towards us is fine?
I look forward to my post saying he is a smart politician becoming this weeks "humbug" scandal.
