I don't know you, pal. I don't know if you're spoon feeding me bullshit to further the woe to remainer narrative or have genuinely been affected.

I don't wish ill on others, hell I hope that if it's true, your fortunes turn around, but after three years of having my own situation mocked and belittled by remainers on this very topic on this forum, you might forgive me for not having the same level of empathy when I hear others giving their own personal accounts of their troubles associated with brexit.

If my circumstances were deemed laughable or throwaway by the remainer experts on here, why am I not allowed to dismiss others in equal measure? A perfect example of how the narrative of brexit has become toxic, and for me the best remedy is humour.

That is fair. I guess.

And they're blaming brexit (which hasn't happened) for their lack of investment, not other factors?

I don't understand then, why they would need a London based outfit, of 1400 people, just to qualify them to float on the LSE. My own company (by that i mean who they work for) Has their HO based in Manchester, and they trade on the LSE.

They tested the water a few years ago and had a lot of interest, they’ve been hugely successful and their parent company is no.2 in the world, in their specific sector.

After they found out they could gain capital, to propel their growth further, they put together the plan of going for the IPO and we helped them by filling specific IPO related projects with talent.

They know exactly what they’re doing.

Following the last 3 years, investment in their space is at a low not seen for years and its 100% Brexit related. They don’t need an excuse as there’s nobody they need to answer to and their public statement didn’t specify anything, just said they’re delaying. It’s what their board told us... well they said the implications of the last 3 years in politics has caused investment to significantly drop and therefore we needed to hold fire getting our team in place to hire for them.

And my client’s head office and largest site will remain in the West Mids... in fact they’ve done so well they’re thinking of opening a sister site over the road. It’s not a particular rich area of the West Mids either and therefore are creating much much needed jobs for the local area, which only has 3/4 large companies.

Your employer will still have a London site and one that’s very much operational, you have to.

My client are expanding in all sites, including another new site in a relatively rural area which is still half empty - we’re again helping to hire local talent.

If they’re to get a place in London, with the growth they’ve had and the IPO that they’re intending to go for, it’d be stupid of them not to make it a large site, as it kills two birds with one stone.

It wouldn’t be cost affective to get an office in London and then get one in Manchester too, just because well they feel the people of Manchester deserve to work there too.

As an organisation, believe me when I say this, they have done enough to help local communities, as their sites are rarely in major cities but now is the time for them to get into the top bracket.

I know you may not be talking about me but I promise you there’s absolutely zero that I’ve said that’s false, or even exaggerated.

I fully expect once the dust has settled and the hopeful announcement of a FTA is made, they’ll float and things will be well but you asked for a specific personal example and I provided one.

We have London sites, true, but not to the tune of 1400 employees in one location.

Again, not meaning to dispute your situation here, but it doesn't sound like they're trying their hardest to find employment for 1400 people, and actually have ulterior motives in mind, at least to me. But since I don't know who this client is, you could be talking about Shell Oil or Innocent Smoothies. Is this a company one I would ethically be supportive of in the first place?

That's fair enough.

I'm happy you see it that way.

And I genuinely hope your fortunes improve.

Appreciate the consideration (no sarcasm btw), it has been and gone, but we did mention that context, you laughed it off (not finger-pointing, just clarifying) and i briefly mentioned an example. im sure many here, and everywhers, have theirs as well. it is naive to wave off any consequences of brexit just because it hasnt happened, we are teetering the line to a recession, and it Has held economy back. Yes, in part, the uncertainty, but the fact that it is happening at all is a big factor. It will only impact it more.

For the record, there isnt one specific reason why i oppose brexit, (and by that i dont mean striving to overturn it), that is a much broader ideological choice.

Companies don’t choose sites based on a moral obligation to the locals, they just don’t in reality.

They do it for cost effectiveness and talent in the area.

The reason they’ve kept their HO in the West Mids is due to them being very well known locally and being commutable for the majority of Birmingham’s talent.

They’re increasing all their locations but want to make the biggest increases in London because A) they’re spending a fortune there anyway on the site, for the IPO B) whether we like it or not there’s almost an infinite pool of talent in London, as a recruiter it’s 10x easier to find high-calibre and specialist candidates in Greater London C) it’ll massively enhance their name and attract further investment to have such a site in London.

They’re hardly Green Peace but they’re not Malboro cigarettes either, they’re providing a service that’s needed to the public, doing so within the laws and they treat their employees very well, with flexible working and an inclusive environment.

Well just to clarify my opinion on Brexit and what I intended to occur when I voted (those who know this already can skip to the next post now, having seen me explain it 100 times already) I don't oppose the EU itself, more that I am fearful and oppose what it intends to become (federal) and how that goes against what I want to see of Europe.

In short terms, I want to see the UK leave the EU and join the EFTA. We were originally EFTA members (being a founder) qnd believe it is more appropriate to our position and relationship with Europe, that being opposing a customs union (as does the EFTA) opposing political integration (as does the EFTA) and opposes combining economies (you get the picture). I'd hoped our Government and Parliament would support such an option, and instead we got May's WA (which looks remarkably similar to an EFTA membership, but go figure)

If you feel I pooh-pooh'd you, it's only because my own opinions have been pooh-pooh'd from others who don't share my own situation. They pooh-pooh'd it. In the end your pooh-pooh's have been pooh-pooh'd by us on the leave side having been pooh-pooh'd. The concept of brexit totally destroyed, by pooh-pooh.

Equally as I've said in this thread, there's a production factory my previous company moved overseas for cheap labour, which will move back to the UK in the event of a no deal brexit.

This post needs a blackadder gif.

Is that because they can get away with paying people fuck all, once the Tories scrap the minimum wage post no deal ;-)

By the way no deal isn’t happening though.

The exact opposite of my employer then.

Then you should find a new one.

Despite the current political climate slowing growth, we still have ridiculously low unemployment levels and you’ll find a new job, believe me.

You’ve got nothing to lose in interviewing and checking companies out, you don’t have to take anything you don’t like, just make sure you ask the right questions at the end of your interviews.

I was under paid and working shit hours, so I left and it’s the best decision I made. One thing led to another and I’ve tripled my salary since.

I’m not saying everyone will do that but there’s definitely a chance for you to get better hours and you’ll almost definitely enhance your pay elsewhere.

The worst thing anyone can do if they’re undervalued and unhappy is stay put.

I am doing. At my own cost i'm learning a new skill (one relevant to my username actually) to have enough experience to find a new employer.

11 years i've been with the current company and reached as far as I can legitimately go. The "Apple of the ???? world" my arse.
