Well that is a possibility but I can't see it tbh Chip. The headache for them in Republic of Ireland wouldn't be worth it
I can't see it because I think the deal will get done.

But I think Juncker's comment was not loose lipped and ill considered. The EU want this done and enough fucking about. All 27 members would need to agree an extension, and Juncker may well be aware that one - who frankly couldn't give a shit about Ireland - have said no, enough is enough.

If you were the Eu why on Earth would you extend again. They have in good faith negotiated two deals and worked hard to get them done only for parliament to play party politics.
We are an embarrassment
This is one thing I've been thinking about.

There has to ba a point the EU says weve done everything we can and if that's not enough were walking. Which plays straight into the hands of the far right fuckers dictating our negotiations.

Depends, the DUP not backing it is big. I can't see enough labour MPs rebelling to get it over the line.
You could be right about the EU27 though

We probably have enough political capital left to force France to agree one more extension if there's real hope of a deal along with Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. That'll no doubt be it then though.

A lawful extension. The argument would be made that only that passed by the HOC is lawful and in the light of recent decisions it would win.
Either i'm misreading this or you are.

What do you mean by "a lawful extension"? And this commentary about something being passed the HoC???

The fact (I think) is that we are out on October 31st unless the EU grants an extension. And if they do not, then we are out, and it matters not WTF our HoC says. It's not within our gift to grant ourselves an extension. Our only option in this circumstance would be to revoke A50, and if we did not then we'd be out.

Hilary benn just been interviewed and a light went on during the interview,

He said he was opposed to no deal absolutely and then interviewer said well we have a deal are you voting for it . No said benn.

And because of my act the pm has to ask for an extension. Interviewer points out to him well if he does that , junker has said the eu are not extending and therefore if you vote against the deal you are risking a no deal brexit aren’t you? something you have tried to prevent.

Gulp, well let’s have a second referendum ......

If it does, parliament can unilaterally revoke as well, rather than risking no-deal.

I can't see any appetite from the EU27 to make life difficult for one of their fellow members.
It could bite them in the arse at a later date

What's Juncker going to do when he has to pay for all that free wine when he leaves the role?

Correct and Hilary been has just twigged this in an interview.

1 vote the deal down

2 ask for an extension

3 eu no

4 31/10 out with no deal.

Junker did not say what is being reported.

He said as there is an agreement there was no need for an extension. He passed no comment on the response to any request for an extension, not surprising as it's not his place to do so.

If we ask for an extension it will almost certainly be granted. Whilst the EU are rightly fed up with our antics they do not want to be the enabler of that particular shitshow.

I mispoke, apologies, off on holidays from work and have had a few up at Tramore races. A lawful WA. Which could easily be argued to be one passed by a sovereign body (ie the HOC) although I'd bow to @Chris in London on this one.

But if it's phrased as a choice between making life difficult for France or making life difficult for Ireland? The aforementioned will stick with us along with Norway and Denmark, God knows where the rest go. The decision will be unanimous either way.
