That is assuming that the tories can find someone to get into bed with having shafted both the DUP Lib Dem's there's not much left. I can only see the Brexit party picking up a couple of seats at best.
I don't think there's a shred of doubt that the Tories will be the largest party after the next GE. Not a shred.

Whether they will be able to form a government is another question entirely. But either way, what is clear is that no-one (apart from possibly the Tories) can conceivably win with a majority. So there will likely be no majority for anything as per the last 3+ years, and yet more paralysis. Unless the Tories win with a majority, which they very well might.

Yes, but some would argue that it was the absence of NoDeal, extension of A50, die in the ditch, gun to the head, that actually got him off his arse looking for solutions.

Some would also argue that the solutions were there, ready to be chosen.

Just saying what some might say BI.

But they didn't.

They said he wanted no deal, would never get a renegotiation, wouldn't get rid of the back stop and as per the Benn act, would have to go back to Parliament and suffer his fate.

That is what has happened.

Pretty sure Scotland would also like the N Ireland style internal customs border too if this goes through.

Sturgeon should approach the government and guarantee SNP votes tomorrow for the price of a second indy ref next year and in the event of a yes vote, the same deal as NI.

Smart move politically but she cant see past the end of her bitter nose so wont and you will miss out completely on everything.

Love posts like this.

You're just a Tory.

Its like saying you're just a nonce or kiddy fiddler on here.

So what he is a conservative? It isn't fucking illegal.

What? It's not like you to totally miss the point?

He can change his mind whenever he wants, he can believe whatever he wants and he can support/vote for whoever he wants. My point is that his 'Epiphany' was nothing to do with Brexit or suddenly believing in the rights of people he's been labeling as idiots for the last three years. It was about being a Tory, wanting the Tories to be in power and stopping a Corbyn-led government.

One of the big assumptions from Johnson is that he can convince most of the 21 members he kicked out of the party to vote through his deal and I am not convinced that he can do that. Let's not forget what they were actually sacked for voting for an extension and fundamently they are being asked to vote against that now by accepting the deal. It is quite conceivable that they don't like the deal or would prefer 2nd referendum attached to it. They have nothing to lose they have had the whip removed and effectively have a free vote on this.

Did you come up with that? That's a bloody good idea IMO.

From a timing perspective that is true. But please understand I am on record saying that Boris is fuckwit, a buffoon and someone for whom I have little or no respect. I'll dig out my posts on the subject if you wish.

But yes I am a Tory, and were it Corbyn who was driving towards some position or other, I'd probably find it much more difficult to fall in line and support it. A fair cop in that respect.

But at the end of the day mate, what's really changed in my thinking is, I've had enough of this shit. After 3.5 years of it, I want us to move on one way or another. I am almost beyond caring: just get the fuck on with it. And it's dawned on me that it is NEVER going away unless we leave. 17.4m voters have "right" on their side and would be justified in never letting it drop if we don't leave. 16.1m voters have no such claim and will have to accept it when we do.

It's really simple, if Labour were saying we must leave on this deal and the Cons were offering a second ref, you'd be wanting a second ref with the Tories. Your change of mind is because, and whether Boris is a buffoon or not, your priorities are the Tories and avoiding a Corbyn government is what matters to you. Good luck to you, we're all like that in some way but let's not kid ourselves.

I rejoined Momentum this morning and as much as I think we should leave, any Labour MP that votes for a deal that removes workers rights is quite rightly finished.

I have posted that Brexit was never really just about Brexit it was also about the destruction of the Labour party and the chance for permanent rule for the Tories. A back door to a one party state, a state free to become the Singapore on Thames neo-liberal dreamland of the hard right.

Is this your wake up moment? Are you a remainer now? A bit late but welcome onboard.

Some would say that, but they're talking cobblers in an attempt to assuage the grief of what has happened.
Johnson has been PM for around 100 days, he immediately announced what should have been implemented by the dire
May, that we would leave deal or not, he made constant references to ensure we'd get one, indeed, he was upbeat about
it, and it's proved to be the case. To suggest he did rock all, and then managed to sort this in a fortnight or so is nonsense,
but hey-ho, if it gives comfort, who are we to deny it?

Yep he did all that.
And as I’ve said a few times, if only you had someone to threaten us with No Deal 3 years ago, we’d have gladly capitulated to this deal and saved you all the palaver.

Well done Boris.

Sam Giymah said on James O'Brien earlier that he got a call last night from Tory HQ asking him - as a Tory MP - what help will he need to be persuaded to vote for the deal....... they are that fucking out of touch

This is the biggest weekend in Johnson’s political career.

If he gets it through then he’ll genuinely be Prime Minister for the next 5 years at least, maybe 10.

He knows this and therefore is absolutely desperate to get this through.

His tabloid mates have piled on the pressure and Saturday will be one of the biggest moments in the history of the House of Commons.

It’s 21st century D-Day, just thankfully no one has to give their lives.

Not sure where the optimism is coming from (but I guess being a non tory I won't) if the deal did get voted through then Tories would win an election on the back but we are a long way from that as it is not in there gift to have an election. The opposition could chose to sit to make sure that Johnson couldn't push through his populist agenda,

Yes, she should, it would finally mean she gets what she wants, but she won't, and if the deal gets passed, zero
fucks will be given about her, or the SNP, and we, thankfully, will be hearing much less of her, and that raving fat jock who
completely lost it in the house the other day.
There are many positives about Brexit;)

Of course I want to stop a Corbyn-led government. As would anyone with any sense, IMO.

But that is not the reason for my change of heart. Believe that if you like, or not. I don't care which.

Did you come up with that? That's a bloody good idea IMO.

I did last night.

Smart move and the government would jump at it thinking Scotland will vote no again in all reality anyway.

Shuts the SNP up for a while as well.

Fair point.
From our perspective, we’d have taken this three years ago but he/his current cabinet wouldn’t have voted it through anyway.

Why now?
Do they see another twist further down the line perhaps?

I'd like to.

My only reservation is I am surprised how "soft" Johnson's deal is. I had imagined (and hoped) that if the deal doesn't get through and we end up with an extension followed by a GE, that most Brexit Party supporters would switch to the Tories. But I am not sure of that now, and as a result the Tory vote could be badly split. Labour's vote will be way down, and split, as well. So a GE IMO if we don't leave in 2 weeks would result in a hung parliament with the Tories being the largest party, and yet more paralysis.

Yep. Said yesterday electorally it would have been better to stick to no deal have Parliament force him to extend and then campaign as the ‘no deal’ champion, ‘back me for the ultimate Brexit, no surrender yada, yada’. Now he has to campaign on a nuanced compromise deal where we still pay billions, remain in the EU without a say and with NI portrayed as a ‘captive EU colony’ by the opposition.

I’ll give Johnson some props for taking what could be a more challenging route electorally and who knows it may even work but I kind of think the more this deal is examined the more of a severe kicking it will get from all sides and that will damage the Tories in a campaign.

I like your thinking. Don't think Jimmy Crankie will for it though, as indeed you said.

You been smoking Rascal?

Sorry Len but whatever way you try and spin it, If you add up the three leave options they total 46% with remain totaling 34%.
Unless you are suggesting all the don't knows are actually remainers?

I just cant imagine how dissapointed you must have been when you read that article? nearly as much as the BBC themselves!

What i did find amusing was the fact that the total was 101% !
Not the best editorial checking.
No point in arguing about one poll mate but it is certainly true from the aggregate of all polls since June 2016 that there has not been a significant enough switch to Remain.

I think it will get through though Bob.
