Another 3 Billion handed over to the EU now for this delay. Plus billions for the previous delay.
Truly sickening how the opposition have the galle to criticise the government for austerity when tax payers money is being wasted on staying in an organisation we voted to leave nearly 4 years ago.
The whole parliament system is broken beyond repair.
The money is being wasted on leaving. If we weren't leaving we wouldn't be spending it.

Nothing but good news ....................none of this will be used against Johnson in a forthcoming GE I am sure - after all the EU is the one that wastes money

My friends who wanted Brexit, told me that getting new trade agreements would be easy because other country`s were crying out to trade with us. I said that`s bollocks. Other country`s, knowing we are in the far weaker position would turn the screws and try and fuck us over royally.

Trump and the U.S. drug companies will fuck our country unmercifully given the chance and they wont be the last.

I'll believe you - though all lies and fake news and an invented story of course. I have said before I look forward to the Leavers noses hitting the window pane of reality as they stare through it at what they have done.

Does anyone think we/the NHS are not already being shafted by drugs companies?

Check out for yourself, the price of prescription drug in this country then compare the prices of the same drugs in America. If you think the NHS are being shafted now wait till we have new trade agreements with America

Don't know why it's never occurred to us to set up our own pharmaceutical industry in the UK. Not having one seems to leave us,at the mercy of the US.

There are plenty of companies in the UK Pharm sector. The issue is the cost of medicines. The NHS pays what it pays - what has been negotiated. If we sell to outside influences trade deals may include the requirement to buy at a much greater price than we do at the moment as a quid pro quo to trade deals in other areas. Thats the rub - trading with the rest of the world as well as bringing potential openings also could expose parts of the UK economy to adverse effects. We were told by Leave it was all gravy and the world needed us more than we needed them - amazingly so many folk bought it.

Seems a shame we,are banned from buying anywhere other than the US or producing our own drugs when we leave the EU.

errrr....we aren't. What brings you to that conclusion? When we negotiate trade deals the coverage will be wide so that is when the "easy peasy" and "NHS is not for sale " lies will be exposed.

I believe India have already indicated that a trade deal with them will be "bought" by means of more visas for students and their citizens. You do it for one you do it for all. China will be keen. Part of any trade deal will be ceding control of borders to trading partners rather than taking back control.

The US wants to send us chlorine washed chicken ( we can't have that as pert of the EU ) so as part of a trade deal we cede food standards to external sources. If they want to extort money out of the NHS they will write it into trade deals and charge the NHS what they want as part of the deal.....or do you think a country of 60m people and the 5th or 6th largest economy in the world will be negotiating on an equal footing with a country that is the biggest economy and a market of what 350m people?

We will be able to buy and sell where ever we like when ever we like once we have negotiated deals that could take a decade to complete but we are doing so from a position of weakness. Any body who thinks otherwise is a fool.

Yep they absolutely bought it, unbelievable isnt it.

Not really. It’s just people being people, and thinking the country they are from, and therefore by extension, themselves, is carrying more cards than it actually is. Overreaching is frequently a feature of the human condition. Pride comes before a fall and all that.

Taking back control ffs.

ha ha ha ha - I knew there would be some thinking that - more Project Fear?
As a Remainer, during the referendum campaign it infuriated me that the very real concerns about Brexit were so easily dismissed by the leave side as just scaremongering.

So I take threats and risks very seriously. However that program not only had such an obvious and painfully biased political perspective, it simply did not add up. It was packed full of 2+2 = 3 logic. Basically trying to find a problem where none exists.

The impact to the cost of running the NHS would be enormous were we to pay US prices for our medications, so no government is going to allow that to happen. Moreover, we don't get much from the US anyway. Most of the big pharma businesses are not even American, they are European!

I gather you`ve heard of worldwide patents. I would also presume you`ve heard all the tariff trump is putting a vast range of products from a vast range of country`s.
Trump Administration Slaps 25% Tariff On Single Malt Scotch ...

The U.S. pay as much as 10x`s what we do for drugs. "It`s been said by many people" that it could cost this country around 27 billion a year just on the extra cost of prescription drugs if The Don get`s his way.

Like I said, it's a shame we will not be allowed to continue purchasing drugs from the EU if we leave. I suppose with the channel tunnel bricked up and the ban on trade with the UK after Brexit it's sadly inevitable.

Truly worrying that during the decade it will take to complete these trade deals we won't have any chicken or medicine at all. I suppose after ten years of nothing chlorinated chicken, overpriced drugs and Indians moving here will almost seem like a relief. I think the country will be so badly ruined by brexit that you are being a little optimistic in thinking Indians will come. Also, with our post brexit economy so badly broken we won't be able to buy any drugs at the prices at which the US will be selling. It's all very scary.

I guess your friends haven't changed their minds or admitted you had a point.

Unless they are less entrenched than leavers on here...

I should give up on trying to be ironic. People take it literally and it makes you sound thick!

Apologies if you weren't being ironic...

Now what about all these secret negotiations between the Tories and US drug companies? Remember it's not true till it's been officially denied twice.
