That article was staggering in its utterly disgusting attempt to rewrite history.

Every paragraph contained another attempt at excusing violent, murderous, behaviour.

"You Scouse? It's free to us today".

Clear insinuation that Roma fans the year before were somehow to blame for Liverpool fans murdering innocent Juve fans a year later.

He mentions the flimsiness of the stadium in a, by now, all too familiar attempt to excuse the resultant deaths.

He attempts to blame the police, sorry "riot police" for taking action against thieving Scouse scum attempting to steal their way into a game.

Liverpool fans were completely responsible for 39 deaths that year. Liverpool fans alone.

They had spent decades rampaging, stealing, fighting, stabbing and slashing their way across the continent of Europe.

It's not a city of Liverpool thing, Everton fans famously were playing football with Dutch police and fans a few weeks before this game in a CWC final, it is a Liverpool FC thing .

Thieves, thugs, murderers.

I know that English clubs were banned from Europe following the Hysel disaster but did the Dippers get any other sanction themselves in addition ?

Originally the ban was indefinite and lfc were to get 3 extra years after the other English clubs were back in.
UEFA allowed other clubs bAck after 5 and then voted to let lfc back after 1 further year.

The lfc fans who were found guilty of causing the deaths received a slap on the wrist. No Chelsea fans were charged.

That's almost word for word what a dipper said about the Heysel on another forum I use . Blaming the Roma fans , poor state of the stadium etc etc. It must be what they truly believe.

That article just makes me want to be sick.
What a complete knob to be writing that bile

it’s actually the closest it comes to an admission, obviously with a caveat of it was cos of those Italians but not something normally heard from Scousers.

Mark my words people will die at a game due to their fans behaviour again as they don’t learn, you take a support not a mob to conquer.

love the way he sees the robbing and looting as perfectly normal and acceptable behaviour. Has he no moral standards...? I think I know the answer to that.
Makes it worse that he admits his mother and sister were in the crowd. He also complains about them having a grievance about the media not reporting the attacks by Roma fans a year earlier, another Scouse myth, as I remember it being widely reported and lots of people angry at the way Liverpool's fans were treated that day. It's beyond belief that anyone could publicise an article such as that as an attack on their neighbours, let alone someone stealing a living as a journalist.
