Yes. CAS is the last resort, and that would include appealling UEFA's decision within UEFA first (as I see it).

It was reported almost immediately after filing (possibly David Conn) that it couldn't work.

Whether it was making sure the question had been asked, or whether it was just a warning shot across UEFA bows, or something else, is unknown.

Actually I prefer this as it means UEFA have to either find us guilty or not guilty
If the CAS had said UEFA's case against us was flawed, then we would always be tarnished as the club that got away with it
At least this way we can clear our name

Must admit, it seemed odd at the time that we were appealing to the CAS before any decision was reached by UEFA.

No, it means "not our business yet - our rules prevent us ruling on this"

As far as I see, the IC have investigated and made recommendations to the AC. That's their entire role in it, and sending it to the AC merely means they think it's beyond what the IC are allowed to punish people with (from memory, 100k euros).
The AC can do what they like with those recommendations, and I assume this will entail assessing whether procedure has been met, strength of evidence if challenged, etc.
